Default Flannel as polishing cloths?

How well does flannel work as a polishing cloth... you know, scratch removed, spot polish etc.

I noticed that the plastic parts scratch way to easy with normal towels (bumpers, mirrors, tailgate trim). Flannel may not be the best for drying, but it seems to be gentle enough for polishing.

Thoughts?
