80 Watts!!!! If that is indeed true, you're going to fry your harnesses fo' sho'.

Upgrade your harnesses before you roll with those HID(?) bulbs.

Thats a bull____ ad. HID-Like......whoever that seller is, is trying to rob folks.

If you want to stay halogens, you can allways go with PIAAs. Heres the thread with pics of my car with them.

WOW...Retail for 40 dollars but yet their selling them for 2bux? Yeah that is definitly a rip right there. Here you go man. If you want brighter and true HID setups talk to this guy. He's got great service, and right now he is selling his kits for 140 shipped. For that price you're getting 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts, a harness so that they draw power from the battery instead of all of through the stock harness which will burn it up over time, and a 1yr warranty. He won't do you wrong man. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...r=asc&&start=0

Ya, that's definitely not any real "HID" setup.

If you want to stay with Halogens... look into Sylvania Silverstars or some PIAA bulbs or some HIR type bulbs (not sure where to get those though). Brighter/whiter light that's quite a bit cheaper than any "HID" kit you'll get.

Well PIAAs are that much for a reason. THEY LAST. And i highly do NOT recommend putting HIDs in a housing desinged for Halogens. You blind everyone else on the road and really dont have a focused light pattern that is nessacary with HIDs.

If you pick up a set of 08 headlights, HIDs are a bit better cuz theyre focused. In 05-07 headlights, your being no better than a Civic that puts HID bulbs in because "i wanna see better, and ____ everyone else"

Silverstars are cheap, but they also burn out very quickly. Ive had PIAA bulbs in my MR2, my Katana, and my tC and never have i seen one go out. My MR2 was 2 yrs with them, my Katana its been about a year with them in. Not 1 problem

Ok this harness we talk about is for HIDs ONLY. That's the reason its created. When using stock bulbs or any replacement bulbs from the factory, they plug into the stock harness. Now that is all wired throughout the engine bay and has some relays/fuses in the fuse box by the battery. However, normal bulbs when they turn on only consume ~50watts and that is continuous throughout the whole time you have them one. Now with HIDs they actually have to charge/ignite/heat up, however you want to put it. So what happens is when you turn them on they are going to be consuming ~75 watts for a few seconds until they reach their operating temp and power usage, then drop down to less than 50watts typically. Since our stock harness was built for ~50 watt bulbs, having ~75 watts going through it will burn it out over time, forcing you to buy another and they aren't cheap from what I have heard. Now with a HID setup you have two bulbs and two ballasts, one per bulb, and some come with a harness and some don't. The one I linked you does. Basically what this addtional harness does and plug your stock harness into one connector, connect a ground cable to the car chassis, a power cable to the red batt. terminal, and then two connectors for the ballasts. Now, when you turn on the headlights, it will route through, what I'm thinking is a relay and fuse setup, that is wired into the additional harness and will pull the power from the battery instead of through the stock harness, meaning its safely pulling its power during the igniting period without detrimental effects on the stock harness. It is very easy to install the HID kit. All it is, is connectors, your not cutting or splicing anything. You just plug in all the connectors, route them around the engine bay, find somewhere to mount the ballasts, and your set. Go 9 posts down on this pg and you will see some of the pics from my install, I can take more if you need them. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...sc&&start=1160

Oh and just so you have a idea of what this harness thing will look like in a stick drawing, this is basically all it is. Go ahead and laugh!

And the real one with the same info.

Any other questions just ask man, we're here to help :D
