tC sales for September: 4241

TORRANCE, Calif. -- Toyota Motor Corp.'s (TM) North American arm, lifted by its new model-year products and a strong Labor Day weekend, said car sales rose 10.3% in September despite volatile oil prices and destructive weather in the Southeast.
In a press release Friday, the auto maker said it sold a total of 161,793 cars and trucks in September, up from 140,754 a year earlier. Sales at the Toyota division improved 11.6% to 141,606 cars while sales at the the Lexus unit increased 2.3% to 20,187 vehicles.
There were 25 selling days this sales month, compared with 24 last September.
Toyota Motor USA's new Scion tC sports coupe led Scion sales with 4,241 cars sold in its third months of sales.
The Toyota Camry continued to be a bestseller with 34,628 cars sold.
For the third quarter ended September, Toyota sold 542,393 vehicles, up 6.2% from 510,867 vehicles sold a year earlier.
For the year-to-date period, Toyota's sales rose 8.9% to 1.55 million vehicles from 1.41 million vehicles in the same period last year
