Default Just installed the GearSwitcher, got a few questions

I got the 2.5" height reduction w/ the cable and cage bushings (which raised it to .6 "). My question is did anyone get Doc's Shortshifter and couldn't reuse the plastic ring in the boot anymore?? i got the TRD Leather Shift **** and i tried doing the trick where you flip the boot inside out, put the fastener ring in the middle blah blah look down below:

so yeah i can't get mine to look like that i had to take the plastic ring out and now my boot looks sloopy.....any help?

if i leave the plastic ring there it wont sit as low as the twm short shifter, it will only go half as low if not less.....

You have to move the collar. It's not going to be absolutely perfect... but you should be able to get rid of a lot of the excess boot. Thing is that at it's OEM position, the boot is just the right size for that collar... and the farther down you move it, the more material you have to wrap around the collar. So you're going to have some kinks or overlaps.

Here's mine:

Of course, I don't have the OEM collar anymore either. But you can kind of see around the top of the boot, there are some "almost" folds of the extra material. Mine is probably at least an inch and a half lower than OEM.

Oh ya... mine is actually the creative compacts (megan racing) shift... so still a bit of a drop.

You could also try turning the collar upside down. That's how I had my OEM one for quite a while. Then there's more of it sticking up so it might not look as bad.

You should still be able to use the OEM collar (like I said, try flipping it upside down though - see if it makes a difference).

And yes, it's kind of a trial and error a few times to get it looking the way you want.

yeah i confirmed it with Doc and you cannot reuse the collar, you would have to drill out a bigger hold with a dremel but its ok i still managed to mess with the boot and make it look decent

Ah... must just be how low it actually is. Mine sits 1.5" lower or something I think.

Ya, it's very close to that one. Maybe a little more rounded on top and a slightly different looking collar - at least from the pics I've seen.

Well sure the OEM boot works..but getting a nice leather boot for around $40 that's shorter than stock will look even better than the OEM boot. Check out redlinegoods.com
