Default Torque Converter for our cars??

So...I have an Auto 06 tC...

I was thinking in getting a Pulley...I think they wont do anything for HP gain's!...
so I was thinking about a Torque Converter are they worth getting??

I dont know Much about Torque Converters...But are they a Awesome Mod to get???
are they worth getting???

Maybe someone can Educate & tell me the Good & Bad about a Torque Converter???

You mean a different tq convertor than stock?

pulleys do not make hp, physically impossible since any flywheel type device (spinning disc) stores engery, it doesnt dissipate it. But since reducing rotational inertia fools an inertial dyno, people can claim hp gains from them. All reducing rotational inertia does is make the car rev faster (which can affect performance to a degree).. but also makes it drop rpm faster. And a pulley is a miniscule change.. which is why those magical "15whp pullies" yield less than impressive results on a track (best I have seen is .1 seconds, but it was not near consistent so cannot be attributed to the mod). But, this has been explained in detail a million times on the threads.

I wasn't asking about Pulleys!...I said I was Considering one...I know there are a lot of threads about Pulleys etc...haha

Maybe what I am thinking is called something else then!

I talking about...the Auto Transmisson and theres a thing that looks like a bubble and you can chenge out the OEM to an aftermarket one...Thus getting my Torque etc...

I havent seen a thread talk about this...unless I am blind!..haha

I was pointing the other part towards the other poster, who sounded like he was saying the pulley would gain hp.

What you are referring to is a torque convertor.. I am not aware of any aftermarket units that will work on the tC. One with a higher ratio will be less efficient at highway speeds. The swap typically done on an auto is to raise the stall level for launching.

a torque converter should be pretty much the same mileage at highway speeds, most modern automatics (i would assume a tc also) have a lockup clutche that the car uses when cruising at high speed.
IF anyone made one, expect some worse gas mileage for street driving. you'll easily be able smoking up your tires though =D
it's definitely more of a drag racing item... it's kind of similar to a slipping clutch feeling, it will still engage at low speed, but if u gun the gas the engine will jump up (usually high rpm depending on how it's set up, 3000-4000rpm+)

please ask the guy who has one. like i was saying. a stall converter only helps when it comes to racing. it effects gas mileage slightly until you get moving at a set pace

Yes, my reference to efficiency is the efficiency of the convertor itself, and related to a convertor with a higher torque ratio, not a a stall (which I mentioned in the last sentence). A higher ratio convertor will tend to generate more heat (less efficient in power delivery) approaching the coupling speed.

But, as stated, what people buy in the aftermarket is a higher stall, which only provides more torque right off the launch. If ou are drag racing, then yes, you will see a benefit, the rest of the time it will actually be less comfortable to drive.
