Default Stock Exhaust Weight

I was wondering if anyone knew the stock exhaust weight of our car?

Also does anyone have weights for the aftermarket exhaust?

Hope someone has the answer >.<

I don't have a #, but the stock exhaust is pretty heavy. I took mine off recently and if you really need a number, I can probably weigh it when I get home (hour? maybe).

If you're looking at this as an opportunity of weight savings... its possible to save a little, I imagine - as long as you don't choose any of the OEM style ones. Something like the Injen SES or that type of "canister" exhaust is probably going to be quite a bit lighter than stock.

I probably should have specified a little further too... the only piece I have off is the axleback section. But I would think that's where most of the weight is anyways. So if someone has weights of the rest of the pieces they could post that too...

Anyways... the stock axleback part of the exhaust weighs approximately 20 lbs, +/- .5 lbs.

I don't have a "good scale" to use... just a digital bathroom one. So I did it two or three times with me holding the exhaust and some of just me and I'm going by the difference - which was always 20. I also tried to just balance the exhaust itself on the scale (kinda difficult... haha) and it came out to 19.5 that way.

So there you go. At least one portion, weighed.

lol =P

so the exhaust weights 83 pounds? or 26 pds?
is this from the cat back? or axle back?

anyone have a weight for a stock midpipe?

I'm looking at an exhaust and the company told me 40 lbs for theirs.... and it's with a light titanium muffler...

I'm guessing that the stock exhaust SHOULD be heavier...

Any aftermarket s-pipe-back should be lighter then OEM but will not give you a significant weight reduction. I also read in another thread that the ZPI one is not of great quality.

I am just glad you didn't ask the diameter or that goku guy would start an argument.

actually i was surprised to see how lite the stock exhaust was. i got the hks to replace it and the stock one was not too much heavier. one is just thinner metal but bulkier and the other is thicker metal but more compact.
if you want to see a heavy exhaust you should check out my supras stock exhaust, easily 50+ pounds. feels like its made of lead. lol.
