Default Black w/ lip played out?

Alright, heres the deal. Looking at getting a '07 or '08 Super White w/ trd drop, factory lip kit, and pedistal spoiler. I also want to add new shoes to her.

I've always loved how black wheels w/ lip looked on white cars due to the contrasting colors. The only thing that I do not like is the fact that I have seen black wheels w/lip on so many riced out cars that it's not even funny. Every where I go lately it seems that every modified car has them and that it is becomeing overplayed.

I hate rice and want to keep the car clean looking, all I want is wheels and the mods I listed in the 1st sentence.

So I would like to know your opinions on black wheels w/ lip, particularly the axis reverb and if I should get some for a super white. The only other wheel I am looking at is the 5 spoke 18 inch TRD wheel, but in some pics it looks silver and in others a darker hyperblack, so I'm not sure the true color of them.

Here is something I worked on in paint the other day when I was bored at work to give me an idea of how the axis reverb would look on super white. I know it's a ghetto job, but I was bored and I think it came out half way decent. Any and all opinions welcome!

it doesn't look bad, but if your going with the black wheels on a white car you need some black on the car, to help compliment the color choices, a simple black pinstripe would look nice on it, and help break up the white a little bit, and on the trds I think they are in black and silver, what you could do is buy them, and have them powder coated a metalic black that would stand out a little bit better then a standard black

True that, I'm looking at painting the brake calipurs black, get black or carbon fiber licence plate frames, the '08 headlights and taillights already come black too, so that is making me lean towards getting an '08.

well get the 08, then save up, buy some wheels you like, they don't have to be black to be honest with you, search around your local area for a powder coating place, use the internet or a phonebook to save money on gas, and start getting quotes, I intend to get my wheels powdercoated because the clearcoat is in pretty sad shape after nearly 2 years of abuse, powdercoating lasts alot longer then the original paint and will take the abuse of road salt and sun and everything else you can throw at it you should be able to get a set powdered for about $200 thats blasted then coated

It depends on the brand and quality of the rim that makes it look ricey. Axis are definitely played out. (Sorry Axis owners.) They do look nice, but they are everywhere. I think the TRD 5-Spoke 18" Wheel W/Black Finish would look real sharp on a SW.

In the end though, all that really matters is that YOU like the rims you choose. If you like black rims w/lip, then get them. Fix your ride the way YOU want it fixed. GL

Actually I had my black rims w/ the polished lip on my SW tC for awhile. And lately I've been getting calls from friends claiming they saw me. And of course that wasn't me. So I'm guessing they're quite a few SW tC's w/ similar rims in my area.

I myself have seen similar SW tCs quite a few times already.

Where i live at which is san diego...i see black wheels with polished lip everywhere. So i think they are played out to a certain extent. They will still look good on a white tC though. I suggest you maybe taking a look at gold or red wheels with a polished lip, both those colors i think make a white car look hot.

Yea I agree w/ the gold one. Hopefully I'll have enough money to get tires for my gold Gram Lights.

find something you like

If you think it looks good then thats all that matters. Its your car..

I have some gloss black wheels with a lip on a SW and I love it..
..try accenting it with something else black (i.e. smoked tail lights) if your worried about the color combo.

You can keep a nice clean look if you do things right. It doesnt have to look riced out.

I'm beginning to agree, black wheels are definitely becoming too common. What matters is what makes you happy.

When I first purchased my black wheels, I only saw a few people around here with them. Now they are just as common as seeing chromies on a car, but I like my wheels and won't change until I see someone with the exact same type and color.

want to be different? try gold or bronze (I like bronze more myself) - both would look great on BSP or SW tc. And yes I agree the black wheel is a bit overdone (especially here in Miami). Check out edgeracing.com for good prices. I got my wheels (Enkei evo 5 bronze 35+mm) from there for a good price. waiting for new tires now.....
