View Full Version : my exhaust keeps rubbing!!
Scionarra 07-25-2007, 03:25 PM i have the injen axle back exhaust and it seems as if it is sitting flush against the bottom side of my rear bumper... thankfully it hasnt gotten hot enough to melt it but i recently bought a lip kit that will be sitting right above it and i know it will be sitting between the exhaust and the bumper... does anyone know of any solutions to this? i would like there to be at least some elbow room there... what should i do?
thanx for the help in advance!
get under the car and mess around with those little rubber things, try to find a solution like that.
tCduck 07-25-2007, 07:51 PM I had the same problem with my HKS and all I did was use some coat hanger wire and move it around and use the hanger wire as hanger. And make sure you use pliers to bend and twist the ends. Worked for me.
TeeCizzle 07-25-2007, 10:38 PM Is a Rash developing from the Rubbing????....hahaha....
They have a CF piece that fits around the exhaust area of the rear bumper too!!

07tctul 07-27-2007, 04:23 PM those caps have to add like 5 hp dude!haha
hashmanson76 07-27-2007, 04:46 PM no way man u actully losse HP since its a added wheight
Mr_Meaty 07-27-2007, 04:49 PM You got pics of the tip and the hangers?
I have the injen and it's not even close to rubbing.
And I dont' think a lip kit would lower the exhaust exit on the bumper. A full rear bumper might.
GQQSE13 07-27-2007, 04:54 PM 5 hp? i thought it was 15 cuz i was gong to stack like 10 so that it hits the ground lol. i'll try it after work. because i've got the megan exhaust that is angled to it sits angled right at the corner of the bumper and just noticed the smell of it starting to melt and all i can say about it is.....cops don't like it!!!!!!!( meaning i almost got pulled over for the new exhaust last night :( )
hashmanson76 07-27-2007, 04:54 PM u mean of the tip right i allrady posted a pic of the hanger look up top
Mr_Meaty 07-27-2007, 05:00 PM not you...scionarra who is having the issue.
Here is a pic of mine. Dont' know if you can tell in this pic, bue there is half an inch to an inch between the tip and the bumper. No modding neccessary.

Looks like axle pipe sitting too low from ground? or just me?
Scionarra 07-28-2007, 06:12 AM mine sits just as low... tomorrow ill take pics of the exhaust for everyone
Mr_Meaty 07-28-2007, 06:19 AM yeah, way low, but that's how they are. Friend of mine has the same exhaust, sits the same way. but it's right under the axle, so no worries there.
GQQSE13 07-28-2007, 05:18 PM mine sits the same way.....and that bottle cap trick actually worked lol thanks for the advice
Scionarra 08-08-2007, 09:06 PM i need more bottle caps!!! i burned the crap out of my kit!
hashmanson76 08-08-2007, 09:15 PM i need more bottle caps!!! i burned the crap out of my kit!
same reason i used bottle caps my bumper burned a little i was gonna do it the right way and buy a longer hanger or even take my car to a muffler shop so they can heat up the metal hanger on the canaster to bend it up a little but once the caps were in no more rubbing or burning so i just left it like it is :silly:
GQQSE13 08-09-2007, 02:39 PM caps are cheaper, and hey you are recycling your garbage and saving you money :)
