Body kit or no body kit?
i have not been able to see a Ground effects kit on a Tc in person yet, i have seen pic's of ones with and with out it, my question to u guys is? do u think the facotry kit is worth it? i dont want something a inch off the ground, i just like the way it makes the car look, to me it makes the car alot nicer, That or the Drop, But im PRob gonna go with the kit....
have u seen it in person? and what are your thought's on it?

I have the factory kit on my car and I am pleased with it. It's nothing drastic and it gives it a better profile than the standard version. That's just my opinion though and with something like this it really comes down to your personal preference. Good luck no matter what you decide.
Cool, Yea im so unsure, i realy need to see it in person, it sucks that i cant find a Demo with it in NY, its annoying. lol

whoa albany... my sister is at school there, but don't think i'll be going out there anytime soon...
never had a scraping problem except when i pulled up a lil too close to the curb in front
and one seriously insane pothole... went into it ever so slowly but it was just a tad too deep... other than that driveways, ramps, etc no problems.
i'm definitely driving it in the winter... because it's my only car ;) but we'll have to see how careful i'll need to be.

2JZ's tC is SICK! I love the looks of the drop and the lipkit. But you asked if it was worth it. The lip kit is like a grand, right? I can't justify paying $1k for a lip kit when most full body kits cost the same. Of course, non are out yet, and when they come, they will probobly be fiberglass instead of poly, but I'm gonna wait till a nice full body kit comes out.
I like white rice!

hey MR MEaty... yea that's usually the argument... for me, too, in the beginning... but i've been through the whole customizing thing and i've come to a few conclusions... first, aftermarket paint, unless you're willing to pay up the wah-zoo, will never be as good as factory paint and painting a kit is a pain in the ___ sometimes...=p second, not all kits fit right sometimes... and that's another potential pain in the ___. thirdly, i think the lip kit does look nice on the car... and since all i really want is for the car to look good i decided to stick with it... plus this way, i factor the cost into car payments instead of credit card payments and it came to me fitted at port so no down time.
as for the damage, there's a mark on the underside of the lip... not a big deal. since this is a daily driver, i've come to grips that things do happen (and they WILL). in any case, it's not SUPER slammed and it's actually better than when i had my IS which was lowered the same with NO lip kit and WAS scraping on the same ramps that my car doesn't.

2JZ:
Those are some very good points. I totally agree. However, by the time i save enough for a full body kit (when there are more available) I'll probably be ready for a new color anyhow. Lambo Yellow, anyone!?
Also, other cars have simple lip kits that run for around $400, so I could use the extra $600 I save to have the whole car painted a color I really like, which is not available stock (Lambo Yellow!).
I can't argue with the other points. The fitment and getting it rolled into the payments (what, another $10-$20 a month?) is why I considered it as well. Even that one tCTunerz is coming out with looks like the front is misaligned. And like I said, you car looks HOT!. I would say it's the nicest one I've seen! Whenever my friends say "Scion tC? What's that? Why are you getting that?" I show them your site at cardomains!
Plus, I'm assuming the factory lip kit is Poly, or whatever the rest of the body is, and not Fiberglass, right? What I would like to know is, though, is it covered under warantee? I mean, if I were to get rearended with an aftermarket bumper on, insurance would most likely only cover to get the original bumper put back on, if getting a fiberglass kit is covered at all!
What do you think? If you get rear ended, and your whole back end is smashed, do you think they will repair/replace your rear bumper as well as the lip?

thanks for the compliments! always nice to know when ppl appreciate. ;)
yea man, it's your car, do whatever you want with it ;) i only said the paint comment because usually aftermarket paint is sprayed on (hopefully in a booth with heat lamps) but it's still not baked like factory... i've noticed that aftermarket paint tends to "lift" when hit by the inevitable debris on the road instead of chip. otherwise, yea i'd definitely want to paint the car some color i'd like ;)
as for being rearended, the insurance definitely would replace everything, lip and all, since that's the way the car came to me factory... when you get your estimate for repair, it's to get it back to the way it looked when you bought it and i have the dealer papers stating that it came that way. guess you can kind of say that if you got your factory upgraded 10 speaker stereo system jacked (dunno why, but let's say that happened ;)), they wouldn't they just reimburse you for the stock six speaker system.
the kit is poly... think all factory kits are poly, and from my experience with my IS, the poly kits are always expensive anyway... but i'd never get fiberglass... or abs plastic. although i'm sure MANY ppl here have had no problem, i live in NYC where the roads have suffered torture worse than the streets of bosnia (ok, exaggeration... ;) but you get my drift) and i had a friend that had a fiber kit on his prelude... although usually it would flex a little bit, he ending up cracking the front part of his kit when skimming a pothole... that's his front... someone rearended me pretty hard once, but on my car the bumper just dented in a bit and popped right back out leaving just the license plate screw marks
... but i was in his car when someone lightly bumped into him and his bumper SHATTERED... never considered fiber after that...

Yeah, since my tC is gonna be my daily driver, I would not consider a fiberglass kit. And Poly kit's easily run a grand, not including paint.
I really like the way yours' looks, with the facotry lip kit and the drop, but I think I'm gonna stick to just the drop for now. It looks good just they way it is. I mean, I can always add the factory lip kit later, right? If I don't find one I like better?

car definitely looks good as it is... as long as you drop it ;)
there was a 12 person waiting list for Flint Mica at my dealership (which i was first on line for ;) ) but i guess it was all kids buying the car since they were all stock.. so i just wanted mine a little different than the rest and it's worked so far! alot of people with the tC have said nice car to mine and that they wished they got the kit as well.
