Ah yes. An oldie but goodie. That was one of the first articles I read about the tC...back when I was completely obsessed with the Celica. (I still love that car!)

this is totally OT but...desi, did you get the car with the TRD exhaust or add it on later? I'm wondering how you like it. and I TOTALLY recommend getting the lowering springs. I got all my suspension mods at the same time, so I don't really know what's doing what, but it handles like a dream now.

I had to wait for the exhaust (I was stuck in that backorder problem :? ), but I got it put on like a week after I got this car. I noticed an immediate difference. When I pulled up slowly, I could feel the exhaust through the pedal and I was like "Coooooooollll!!!" I noticed a difference in the sound, of course. When I was driving home I remember being all like, "Woohoo!" It sounds so nice. Even my dad thought it was cool...and he didn't really want me to get it because it's not a cat back exhaust. Anyway, to me it feels like my car has a more power than it did without the exhaust. I love it, and I recommend it.
An OT question for you, though. I want to get the springs, but my dealer told me that the car doesn't ride well with them, and has warned me against them. I like the look of the car lowered, but I don't know if I'm willing to sacrifice my ride quality for them. What exactly is the ride like? Thanx!

your dealer is FOS. I totally like the ride better with the springs. it's totally smooth and I'd actually describe the ride as "quicker." by that I mean that bumps which would've made the car bounce a bit no longer do so. you still feel the bumps but they're there and then gone.

when I first got the car, unmodded, I showed it off to a few friends. one of my buddies rode in it. the same dude rode in it tonight, with the mods, and he said the same thing. at first he didn't notice a difference, he said it was still smooth. but we went over some minor bumps in the road and he said he thought it felt better now than how he rememberd it.

since I was going straight what he felt was only the springs, nothing to do with the sway bar. but, if you can afford it, I'd also suggest you get the rear sway bar. the springs+sway bar=awsome cornering.

and as far as looks go...suweeeet. before I used to think the tires looked too small for the car. no longer. now it's perfectly proportioned. it even looks better from the front. an inch and half makes a big difference.

get 'em, desi. you won't regret it. you get the springs and I'll get a new exhaust.

p.s. it's only a matter of time before a mod moves this to off topic or somewhere else

Edit: it's probably just my imagination, but the car seems quicker now than it did before. it's like it doesn't roll back and squat when I hit the gas, it just takes off.

haha! Yeah, I have a tendancy to sometimes "launch" my car if I'm first at the stop light. Maybe the springs would help that! I just don't want my ride to be super super stiff or just plain crappy, you know? I'm definitely gonna get the rear sway bar next because I take this left hand turn to a ramp for the highway everyday after work and I can feel the body roll. :?

And this is definitely gonna be closed soon for being OT.
