mauicougar 07-30-2007, 10:40 PM I'm trying to figure out a ball-park time so that I can tell if the dealer's time for an install is legit. I have no clue about this stuff...
CSSXB2 07-31-2007, 02:05 AM Hey mauicougar i just droped off my xb to put the trd springs on dis morning at 9 and they just finished at 2 idk why it took so long but yeah then i called and they were going to start installing the other accessories......
rsw1124 08-01-2007, 01:48 AM in by 9 out by noon at my dealer
Whispaz 08-01-2007, 02:36 AM looks nice
tCTaco 08-06-2007, 07:18 PM I lowered a new B in 2.5 hours. The rear only took about 20 minutes
ScionicXTC 08-11-2007, 05:53 AM Looks great... I can't wait to get mine lowered!
ExcelRevs 08-11-2007, 09:56 AM looks sic...i'm waiting on a bigger drop kit
rbmotorsportsxb 08-11-2007, 07:08 PM how's the ride compare to stock?
ScionFred 08-28-2007, 08:27 PM While the TRD springs may not be low enough for some, they definitely improve the look and handling of the car, IMO the TRDs ride a little firmer than stock but it's hardly noticeable with stock tires. I'm sure the ride changes quite a bit more with 18-20" rims/tires.
MikeInABox 08-28-2007, 09:40 PM Looks good. Do you have any bigger pics, or some from other angles? I'm pretty sure I'm going with TRD Springs. I'd love to go much lower, but I did that with my VW, and the ride quality went bye bye. Don't want to do that with my xB. Besides, if I get a lip kit it makes it look much lower.
There's a black xB in town with TRD springs and the 5axis kit, and it looks perfect. I think going low and adding a lip kit almost means the best way would be air ride. If that guy here was lower than TRD springs, he would scrape all the time.
Z-REX 08-28-2007, 10:55 PM How difficult was it to install the fronts? Need a spring compressor? Special tools? Did you remove the wipers, and motor like the instructions suggest?
ScionFred 08-29-2007, 01:49 AM The fronts are harder than the rears but not too bad. You *really* should use a spring compressor. You'll need either an impact gun or a long breaker bar, metric socket set, metric wrenches and I recommend using a rubber mallet to assist in breaking some of the nuts and bolts loose (unless you have an impact gun).
You don't need to remove the cowl but if you don't, you'll need either extra long box-end wrenches (forgot size) or do like I did and use the rubber mallet and a normal box-end wrench to loosen and tighten the top strut nuts.
XB2Pilot 08-30-2007, 09:41 PM Is this on Gen 1 springs?
My dealer says they are unavailable for 6 months
???
tCTaco 08-30-2007, 09:47 PM Nope...TRD springs are available for Gen 2
Z-REX 08-30-2007, 10:13 PM I bought my springs off the dealer, and they were $250. A little high, but not too bad.
XB2Pilot 08-30-2007, 10:58 PM hmm, i wonder why he can't get them. Maybe they are sold out now?
stick_1NZ 08-31-2007, 07:48 PM looks nice. hope you're happy with it.
JoanMarshall 09-21-2007, 08:29 PM In So Cal, which dealer is the cheapest to install TRD springs and sway bar? I got a quote for $595 from one dealer and that seems so high. I already have the parts from Sullivan Bros. My friend's dad owns a shop and they'll do it but wouldn't that void my warranty?

I cannot help with the dealer question, but you can read the official skinny on the warranty issue on the TRD website here under the "TRD Sport Parts" section:
http://www.trdusa.com/warranty.cfm
It explains dealer installed and other than dealer installed warranty.
Basically unless they mess something up the TRD parts are covered for 12 months. If the dealer installs them you are covered for the balance of your new car warranty.
You have to decide if the additional dealer cost is worth the chance you will have a problem. If you pay the dealer price, you are basically betting that you are going to have a problem. If you have no problems related to that install during the warranty period, you lost the bet and the several hundred dollars.
In my case I bought the springs from Sparks for $200, installed them myself and paid for a $60 alignment. I do not expect any problems related to the springs during the rest of my warranty so I think that was the best deal for me.
Hope that helps.
miketf1 09-22-2007, 08:24 PM can you post the list of tools required?
i really like the TRD springs cause they dont drop as low as the other ones. where i live there are things called speed bumps and driveways.
JoanMarshall 09-25-2007, 01:28 AM Got a new quote from Frontier for $320 fro the springs and sway bar. Getting them done on Sat. Woo hoo.
96744XB 10-04-2007, 08:37 AM radmotorsports installed my trd springs in 3hrs
Whispaz 10-04-2007, 02:52 PM does anyone else have pics of the springs settled?

We have those everywhere! There's nothing wrong with a little scrapeage. The xB really doesn't even have a problem with scrapeage because the wheels are pushed so far out to the corners of the vehicle that there really isn't much overhang of body parts, espcecially on the Gen 1. The Gen 2 will scrape a little more.
Is it just me, or do the springs look like they're installed upside down? Progressive springs are supposed to be installed with the tighter coil at the bottom & lighter-wound coils at the top... aren't they? The whole purpose being to be "lighter" on daily driving, but getting progressively stiffer as they compress.
