Avn-5500 if you want the ease of hook up and sterring controls out of the box.

D3 if you can do an easy wiring job to make the sterring wheel controls work

I have a D3 and HAD a 5500 for a while. id take the d3.

what are you looking to do with the radio?
If your just going to listen to cd/mp3/radio then 5500 it does have ipod control but its not that great.

if your going to want bluetooth, ipod, and xm/sirus,then D3

Wheres love for the Alpine IVA-W205?? I notice it gets skipped over alot in the comparisons. I know it comes in a bit more expensive (when you add in the blackbird) but the blackbird is also portable, and you dont have to loose your DVD slot with a NavDisc.

Give it a look
