Would you still buy TC if ...
Hi There,
I am new to this Scionlife site, actually I had never been to any other site other than Hondas in the past. Most of my car used to be Honda and Acura.
I saw TC the first day it came out… Really like it… But I just bought a new 2004 Nissan Sentra not that long ago...
I put down my deposit on 8/7/04 and got my white 5 speed in 9/8/04. Exactly 1 month and 1 day. I never had to wait for any car all my life. This is the first time, and this is also my first Scion (Toyota).
I have the TC for almost a month now and I love it to death... I am surprise that there are some of you that are unhappy about your TC... May be after reading my post will cheer you up a little.
I have some Questions for all of you that own a TC??? Would you still buy TC if ...
No Panorama Sunroof
Front Disc and rear Drum brake
No ABS
195-60-15 tires
No remote keyless entry
Smaller engine like 1.8
No Knee air bag
No aluminum look dashboard
Hub Cap
and Scion sell it for $14,000?
Aren't you glad you got TC with all these goodies for $16,000???
I love my TC... Hope eveyone that own one does!

Panorama Roof
17" Wheels.
Knee Air Bag.
The dash, only if that crap weighs more then a normal dash.
Comments.
Nothing wrong with hub caps. Keep the same engine. Give me 15" Wheels, a solid roof & all the other stock things & I would still be happy forking out $15,000k for a tC.

I wouldn't buy a car without ABS. Ever. I can recall a few times when ABS saved my ___. I can also remember hitting the brakes in my civic without ABS. I slid across the pavement like it was ice, right in to the side of another car. I even had time to try to pump the brakes but all that did was make a nice break in the skid mark. ABS Rocks!!!!
As long as it had the same engine I would still buy it. Though the ABS is nice, I was gonna buy the Mazda3 which wouldn't have had ABS on it. Other things like wheels you can change without much hassle. But the engine is one of the main reasons that I want the tC, along with a crap-load of goodies.
i could live without the airbags, 17" wheels, tires and the moonroof, because i'm replacing all of those except the airbags and moonroof. I might have the airbags taken out to reduce weight, but i haven't decided on it yet. depends on how well the tC performs with all the other things i'm planning on doing to it
i also wouldn't care if they dropped the engine size only if it was the celica 1.8 they put in, but it would probably bother me and i would end up dropping in the biggest engine that could fit anyways. So I guess I'm glad they did go with the bigger 2.4L other than it has small ports and a loooong stroke.

No Panorama Sunroof - My next car HAD to have some sort of sunroof, but the panoramic thing works well for my taste.
Front Disc and rear Drum brake - I don't really care about this. It's just an added bonus.
No ABS - My last car didn't have ABS and it wasn't a big deal, so it's not something that I absolutely HAD to have, you know? But I don't mind it.
195-60-15 tires - They would be changed immediately. No question.
No remote keyless entry - I need some sort of remote entry ('cause I'm a spoiled brat) whether it be with an alarm or just remote entry.
Smaller engine like 1.8 - I need a car with power. If it would've been the Celica engine, it might've been okay, but I had a big problem with the limited torque in the Celica.
No Knee air bag - Just a cool thing my car has the many others don't. I don't need them, per say.
No aluminum look dashboard - Very cool feature, but it isn't a deal breaker. I do need the interior to look nice, however. No cheap designing for me.
Hub Cap - Absolutely no way. I would never buy a car that has hub caps and not wheels. (Opinion!!!)
Well, that's my list. I like the tC the way it is. If it would've been different, I most likely would've went with the Celica GT-S...I've been in love with that car since I was 16. I weighed all the options on the Celica and tC and figured that I would be getting more car for my money if I went with tht tC. I drove both and came to my decision. Still, everytime I see a Celica I have to look at it. Maybe one day I'll own one...problems and all.

I could live without most of the stuff on the list... none of that got me that interested. Well, except for the engine and keyless entry but...
actually, the car I would had went to was the Mazda3 4-door... I once drove a protege and I loved it, that is, when it wasn't falling apart on me. Was pretty old when I gave up on it and it was plenty abused by me and its past owner, so I was satisfied with Mazda. But the Scion... i fell for the marketing...hell I was checking out Scion well before they actually sold any cars. the ccx got me seriously interested cos it seemed like it was a car actually designed for someone my age instead of someone ten years older, plus the design was totally unconventional. And when I saw the tc... I got hooked. The car is very well designed. Seems like every detail was considered, all the stuff that mattered was given plenty of thought.
I fell for the tc once I read about the "interesting conversation area" feature... pull the front seats all the way to the front, take the headrests off, push the back until its flat, and it's flush with the back seats to one nearly continuous surface. haha. this is a car designed to help guys score and finish the job.
Its right then that I decided Scion understood my needs very well and this was the car I needed to get. :D

Hey sunny, where did ya pick up your white tc? I thought I had the only white tc in HH.; it's about time another showed up. Driving around town, I've seen a silver and flint. In my condo complex, there's a indigo one that I sometime park next to but have yet to talk to the owner.
Where abouts in HH are ya? I'm over in Hacienda Pines... Well, hope to see ya around. Congrats on your car... I waited 2 weeks and I thought that was a long ___ wait...

I won't buy the tC without all these! It would have been better if it came standard with some Trip Computer and Steering-wheel mounted audio controls... And I love the Panorama moonroof and those sleek 17'' wheels.
