iPhone compatability Q?
used search already... didnt find exactly what I wanted to know..
The question of the day is:
Will the iPhone work with the first gen head units that have the iPod jack?
From what I have read, it works with the new xB, but what about the '06?
thanks in advance :D
(BTW, Love the iPhone, now I'm thinking of getting the head unit, if it works together)

It does not work through the iPod in (although it does charge that way). The problem is in the iPhone firmware (doesn't recognize the Pioneer headunit as a compatible device). It may be fixed in a update if Pioneer bugs Apple enough.
I read somewhere that the older chargers don't fully work because the pin configuration is different. Maybe thats the deal with the head unit iPod adapter.
I wonder if there is a way to fix that...
oh well, thanks guys.

if you are trying to play music thru the iPhone to the head unit, they just added it to the 1.0.1 version firmware update for the iPhone. as seen here: http://www.tuaw.com/2007/08/06/walt-...-got-a-secret/
"But even though they might not be fantastic, earth-shattering enhancements, they still, as Mossberg points out: "make the iPhone nicer to use." Some of the "secret" features found by Mossberg include the capability of having 50 favorite numbers in the phone application instead of the previous 20, the option to BCC yourself in the mail application instead of just CC, and the ability to now play music through previously incompatible car adapters and speakers originally designed specifically for the iPod."
so go ahead and plug the iphone into your computer and load up iTunes, it should update..
