Default Word for newby's: Don't dis the Fit here.

Since there are so many Honda Fit lovers here, I've removed the original post.

I'd also like to see what other kits are going to come out for the car. The 5 axis kit is really nice, but i have a feeling also going to be one of the most common

I don't think you realiaze how much aftermarket backing the Fit/Jazz has in the US and in Japan. The xD will have alot of aftermarket backing from Us and Japanese companies but I don't think as much as the Fit/Jazz.

What's your point?

The first xD you posted would cost over $20k

$2,000 - 5-Axis kit
$1,500 - 18" rims
$2,000+ - big brake kit (not to mention rear disc conversion)
$300 - Wing
$200 - Tint
$200 - Lowering springs
Total = $6,200 + cost of the xD $15,100 = $21,300 + tax and installation of parts

Lets not even talk about the price of the custom paint jobs on the other photoshopped xDs.

And you're comparing this to a stock Fit!???

Hating on the Honda Fit is pointless. It's a nice car for a nice price.

Here is one thing to think about though.... Why does every picture/advertisement for the xD show one with a 5-Axis kit??? Cuz it needs one to look good.

The Fit looks fine totally stock.
The xD needs way too much work and cash to look good.

Not knocking the XD, but if it was lip kit vs. lip kit. Fit all the way. I was going to purchase the XD until I weighed the options against the Fit. I get my Milano Red Fit in about 3 weeks

i agree with most here. i was thinking about trading in my xa for the xd, but to me - stock - it really doesn't cut it for me. the five axis looks kick @$$ on the d but i too don't want to spend too much money.

and to reply on an above post... don't the xd's already have 4 wheel disk brakes?

no setup like the xA front disc rear drum......

and you will probably spite me and flame me but I agree the xD is more refined...why get a car that looks good most of you haters driving toasters on wheels how are you gonna comment on style j/k

We wanted a fit and were close to getting one (in the finance office) but decide on the xD after it came out and she (my girl) drove it.....good thing I told here to wait....

No disrespect to the H-kids out there but at least for us in order to get the keyless entry and other items comparable to the xD you have to buy the Fit sport which was 17K at least not including taxes where the 5spd xD was only 16,600 including tax on trade, spoiler, upgraded radio, floormats. So the 400 dollar difference will allow me to get a set of springs and one wheel ......

The fit in referenced above also has a body kit and running expensive **** SSR's you do that to ANY CAR and it prolly will look good....

As to the look yeah most of the pics have the bodykit but I am sure once you drop this car it will be comparable......I remember when everyone was hating on the xA till they started getting dropped.....same thing with the xD.....it is just to new....

Now if you want a honda that looked good off the showroom not that the fit doesn't IMO the civic SI hatch was sweet....

My point is you can make ANYTHING LOOK GOOD it all depends on if you enjoy the other features enough invest in it......So why all the comparision between the fit somebody throw the xB2 out there so we can hate on it in comparison to the O.G. xB.

First of all, lets get this straight. I've been following the events of the Fit since August 2005. I know a great deal about the car and was dead set on getting the car in April 2006 when it was launched in NA. I'm fully aware how much aftermarket products are available.

The point of my post was primarily that the Fit wheel wells are too small. Yes, when the NA Fit was introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in Feb. 2006 I was disappointed with the fuel economy, and the bigger front and rear bumpers just like many other people on Fitfreak.net. Lacking anything else better in the market at the time, I was still dead set on buying one in April 2006 when they were to arrive at the dealers.

When the Fit finally arrived, dealers were marking up the car $1000 -$1500. I was turned off by that, but test drove a Sport 5AT anyway. The paddle shifters were interesting, but not all that compelling. I decided to wait for more Fit's to arrive at the dealers in bigger numbers which would eliminate the premium they were charging. Unfortunately, that never happened. A couple days ago I was leaving the Toyota dealership and saw a Taffeta White Sport 5AT sitting on the Honda lot. I stopped just to see if they were still marking the car up. Not only were they marking it up, they were asking $3000 on top of MSRP. Not only did that completely turn me off, I vowed I would never buy a Honda from that dealership because they were obviously crooks.

Every pic I've shown came straight off the Scion site unadulterated

First of all, the Five Axis kit will be just over $1400, not $2000. Secondly, you don't have to pay $375 each to get a decent set of 18" rims. And lastly, like I said above, the local Honda dealer where I live was asking $20,700 including the add-ons for the Taffeta White Fit Sport.

Are you dislexic? In my original post I said "If you want a well built, efficient sub compact, the Fit is a great car, and I highly recommend it." I never said anything that could be considered "hating on the Fit".

Incidentally THE_DON, if you happen to stop by a Toyota dealer (I don't know why you would, you seem to dislike Toyota/Scion so much based on other posts you've made here) you'll notice that all the marketing material for the xD does not show the the car with a Five Axis kit. It has nothing more than TRD wheels, except a few pics that include the wing. The xD looks better with a simple wheel upgrade than the base Fit does with a wheel upgrade. In fact, The xD comes with 16" tires that would look great with some decent alloys. The base Fit on the contrary only comes with 14" wheels and tires.

And finally, I am not a Honda hater. my commuter is a 1990 Honda Accord EX that my wife and I have had for 11 years, and it still looks and runs great.

In December 1988 I bought a new 1989 Civic Si. I absolutely loved that car, and wish I still had it because it was a blast to drive and I took very good care of it. I only sold it because I wanted to build a bigger house.

Anyway, like I've said above, the Fit is a great car, and I would probably be driving one now if it weren't for the premium they were charging that delayed my decision to buy one just long enough for the xD to catch my attention.

That's too bad. I got one for $16,200

No. It's because it comes STOCK that way!

This thread is pointless because you CAN "make a Fit look like that" if you spend thousands of dollars. In fact, with thousands of dollars, and/or photoshop, you can make any car look good. If the "wheel wells look too small" to you, so be it. Looks are subjective... Besides, small wheel wells didn't stop the Fit from beating the xD in the slalom and on the skidpad. And if stuffing giant rims in the wheel wells is your primary goal, what are you doing shopping in the sub-compact market anyway?

Your original post compares modified cars to a stock one, therefore it's pointless!

Case closed. This thread is dead to me.

Peace.
