Just purchased a new '08 xb in nautical blue and am looking for a softer riding shock that absorbs the road bumps more. Am recovering from 2 concussions and really don't want to lower and put on low profile wheels and tires like my last xb. So...can anyone help? Want to make my xb ride like a cadi, I guess. Not so cool...but comfortable. Getting older. :relief:

Wow. I know the ride is a subjective thing, but I think the stock 08 xB ride compares well to the Camry.

I guess the only real options are possibly different shocks and maybe tires. Some tires the same size give a better ride than others. The challenge is figuring out the best one. You can try www.tirerack.com in the user reviews for suggestions, but remember the subjective nature of a "better ride" to the reviewers.

As an example, I have my 08 xB lowered on the TRD springs with 19" wheels. I think the ride is fairly harsh compared to the stock 08 xB ride. A buddy of mine rode in my car the other day and just went on and on about how much he loved the nice ride the car has. He drives a 93 Chevy Suburban with a ton of miles on it. Definitely subjective.

Hopefully you can read some reviews and get some ideas.

IMO your best option would be different shocks. Some member mentioned installing Monroe Sensatrac shocks and he seemed to like them. Different tires would help too but cost more. 205/60/16 should provide a softer ride.

My husband made me put on 18" General Exclaim UHP tires on Hot Wheels 5 spoke wheels and guess what??? It rides so much better than those horrible stock tires! I'm so excited that my ride comfort is so improved and that I don't feel like I'm jaggedly bouncing over expansion joints anymore. I have on order a set of Gabriel rear shocks for the 2001 Toyota Echo to soften the ride a bit more. We'll see if they fit as Gabriel does not make parts for the Xb. The Monroe Sensa Trac people advised me to try the Gabriels and said that their shocks were more performance oriented and would not change the ride much over the stock for the money. The tech from Monroe also told me the new stock numbers for Sensa Tracs for the 2006 Xb: front 72245 and rear 5601. No longer have to use the Echo part numbers.[/url]

Well, I've finally broken down and decided that a rougher ride is decidedly better than the what looks like a whole 2 feet in my rear wheel weld. So, the TRD's will be arriving this week.

The Echo struts only work for the 1st gen cars. The xB2 uses a different strut all around. I went with the Koni shocks for the Gen1 and they were adjustable to make the ride real smooth.

since, not so much suspension mods are available, try to get some more comfy radial tires. They should hold u for a little bit
