Does anyone know how to get scratches out of the "waterfall"? The scratches are shallow and are only noticible under a certain light but they still annoy me

I am sorry, but what do you mean by waterfall?

 

The center console where the radio door, and HVAC are located... those trim pieces can be referred to as the waterfall... cause that's kinda what it reminds some people of.

Well the scratches are typically on the outer silver sides of it (I have a few too). So there aren't really any stickers for them. And the pieces aren't really that cheap unless you can find a wrecked one...

 

I had a small one there and I covered it with a TRD logo sticker. Worked perfectly.

 

Its painted, try car polish. Only risk is the paint it thin, so don't rub too much.

Find matching paint. I could not.

Buy a new / used one or....

Paint all the silver trim. Its really not that much and I think the trim pieces on the steering wheel would probably be the most time consuming to remove. Get some good automotive masking tape, mask off the center sections and spray.

If the color matches close enough you can get away with just the trim pieces on the upper and lower console. Since the steering wheel pieces are not actually right next to them a slight variation in color would not be obvious.

 

You probably won't find a perfect match... but you could take it as an opportunity to paint the outsides a different color if you want. Quite a few people have done it.

 

Here is your only solution if you want it exactly like stock unless you can settle for less: find one on ebay. Usually go for $50 plus shipping.

This may sound stupid but it might work. Im just trying to come up with alternatives. Look in cosmetics and see if you can find a silver colored mascara (sp?). Rub some across the scratch and fill it in. That might make it blend.

 

Can I get some details on how to paint it. What do i need and how risky is it.
