Default Stereo Upgrade, Help please?

Bought the Scion with Navi, Not to impressed with the 160 watt amp and speakers in the car.

I plan on putting in a 4 channel amp and new speakers. I prefer JL Audio amps and subs,
I have them in 2 other vehicles and they perform great. I have used Focal and MB Quarts speakers in my other vehicles and love them.

I've tried a Infinity amp and speakers recently in another vehicle, not impressed with infinity at all and I bought their high end stuff. I won't buy any of their products again.

I plan on keeping the factory Navi and getting the factory sub for the less space. Anybody make a factory looking box that I could put a JL sub in?

What speakers should I put in the xB? size(s)? Size Amp? I don't want to break the bank and the sound barrier, Just something clean and fairly loud.

What do you guys suggest?

Here's what I plan on doing, which mimics your situation since you want to keep your OEM Navi and I want to keep my OEM HU.

Right now what I'm leaning to do right off the bat is sound deadening. I want to do the doors immediately, using edead v1² and edead v4 on top.
This is something that I feel I will need to do regardless and I might as well eliminate roadnoise now. Give the stock system at least a fighting chance to sound half-decent lol it will also hopefully buy me some time with the stock system.
After the doors I'm looking at the floor and tailgate area. When I finally do go **** out I'm eyeing these: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=49 with a NINe.5 amp and some sub (probably a 10") in a small, out of the way (no loss of trunk space) design. I'm hoping they'll update this for the 2008 xB: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=464 The amp will already have the capability of powering it so no biggie. I'm also looking to do a Big 3 wiring kit in 0 gauge wire and 0 gauge wiring amp kit. Probably 16 gauge for the components and 12 for the sub.
I'm a big fan of eD as you can tell, they have a great reputation. Substitute parts as you see fit.

Some good resources, IMHO:

I plan on sounddeading my doors, floors etc. also. Never heard of this, edead v1² and edead v4 on top, is it like dynamat extreme? Got a link with more info?

I like the under the pass front seat sub, but I want a enclosure for the back area so I won't take up the leg room in the backseat area.

I always use good power wiring...

Looks like good stuff...

The more I keep researching the more I tune my requirements lol pun intended

For the floor I plan on using this:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=51

For the doors, first this:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=52

Then this on top:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=55

The estimates in sq ft that I've been given are 80 sq ft or so for the floor and 40 sq ft for the doors.

I would also love something for the back area, perhaps something that looks like the bazooka enclosure, just performs a whole lot better. Also the cost of the OEM bazooka unit and lack of specs, etc at this point is very disheartening. We'll see how it all pans out, hopefully by the end of the year there will be a lot more options.

Hey uberspeed, thanks for the link to this site the other day.

I checked out all the options for deadening material (edead, Dynamat Extreme etc.) and thought this looked like the best for me.

I plan to use this on the floor and the doors (including the rear) with some v4 on the doors as well.

I highly recommend them and suggest calling Chris directly.
I ordered 120 sq ft of the UE and 40 sq ft of the v4. He cut me a nice deal on that and threw in some good advice and a roller.

On top of that I called at 4pm their time yesterday, they managed to get it shipped within an hour and I get the stuff tomorrow. Nice!
edit
Here is an interesting look at the UE compared to the other two sizes.

I just built a sub box that follows the contours of the cargo area. The whole setup cost ~$90.

My pleasure roX, you have brought plenty of good info to the forum, I'm glad to have contributed a small tidbit. In reading up on these folks they seem to have an outstanding reputation for service AND quality parts.
That's some serious sound deadening right there. I wonder if I should bite the bullet and do the same? Hmmm
Bigfieroman, did you ever get that heat issue solved?
DL, have you seen the OEM bazooka?

I have concluded it was just normal heat. It is just a cheap walmart amp. It sounds great and it has never clipped or cut out due to heat.

No, not in person... Here's a link to a pic someone posted..I checked with my dealer yesterday and they said the subwoofer doesn't show up on the Scion order site. WTF, My dealer said last week, it was available.
