@ the rpm range of 3000 to 4200 our little engine is most efficient, keep it in that range and don't lug it. I get 32 mpg with a/c on some times 34 mpg!

If he's turning 3K at 70 it's an auto. (Stick would be turning about 3600.)

Usually it is how rapidly you accelerate more than ANY other factor. Just changing my driving style in my '05 I can get anywhere from 22 to 36 MPG on a tank with ease.

^^^^ exactly as Tomas says.
your acceleration is when your mpg will go down to like 1.
so minimize unnecessary acceleration, augment your driving style for mpg happiness, and you should see increases in your mpg.

I changed my intake from a fujita to an hks. It went from 36 mpg to 40 mpg. The hks intake is quiet, so i don't feel like pushing it as much.

The main thing is to plan ahead if you have to stop or slow down. Coasting alot is great for mpgs. Sometimes you may not even need any braking. Pretend you have a raw egg under your foot while accellerating and keep tire pressures to 35 psi . My NGK Irridium plugs were good for a couple more mpgs. Try a drop in K&N filter and remove the snorkel thing off the airbox. It's very resrictive. Also use A/C over windows rolled down. These tall window openings create large amounts of drag. Synthetic oil helps some too. Also try cleaning the throttle body and run some fuel injector cleaner in the tank.
That's all I can think of right now.

My numbers are as follows. With steelies on I get 34-37 regularly. With the 18" TRDs it drops to 29-30 no matter how I drive it. I have a short ram intake with round K&N filter and Strup Exhaust that also help.

For some strange reason there are some xBs that just can't get good gas mileage. If these tips don't improve it. You may just have one of "those". Some people have taken them back under warranty to have them worked on for better mpgs and 9 outta 10 times the dealer can't find anything wrong and tells them to live with it.

i get about the same milage, on an auto '06 box.. no mods except a removed snorkel and a K&N filter, brand new..

I actually get about 250-260 per tank from fill up to the light going on.. so it's a little better, but not great..

Default Need advice

I have a RS 2.0 with automatic that I got with 3 miles on it. Now have 45k+ miles. I average 33-36mpg combo. Last trip on interstate I averaged 37mpg running 70-80 mph. So I can't complain. Well, I would like to get into the 40+mpg range of some of the others. But I still can't complain. Only changes are 15" American Racing wheels, Drop in K&N air filter, Bosch +4 plugs, and pulled the snorkle loose from the air cleaner box. Of which none seemed to really change my mileage much.
