I think the HyperBlack would look good with your car.

I voted for the chrome...that's the exact same wheel I was thinking about.

I would have voted for the Hyperblack. They look sort of like mine on my wife's xB... If it's between the black and chrome, I'd say black...

gotta be the tiebreaker.. I vote Chrome nder circumstances, I think t would be more of a POP factor. Second choice due to price would be Hyper black though.

Hurry up and buy something...I want to know what they look like so I can make a decision.
I say go with the chrome, but it's real easy for me to spend YOUR money.

I like the first one. Would that be hyperblack? I'd like to vote correctly so as to not nullify the poll.

Can't...decide...and...talking...like...Shatner!
I don't think I like the hyperblack, despite how many people have voted for them.
I like the black...and I think it would look good, but it has been done to DEATH and then some...plus, I think the fact that it won't match the BSP will annoy me.
I was thinking about picking up the black and repainting them gold, but I think it will look really cheesy.
There is also a bronze color, but I really dislike it.
I think I am going with chrome, depending on how nice of a price I can find...I NEVER thought I would own chrome rims, but...
The problem with black rims is that they tend to blend and you can't see the detail of the spokes... The Hyperblack is dark, but not so dark, you can't make out the details. I think it looks good...

.plus, I think the fact that it won't match the BSP will annoy me.
That's why I think the HyperBlack would look better with BSP.
The HyperBlack might even make the BSP look more black.

Hyperblack looks best. Regular black will look off on a black car. If it is just painted black without gloss, it could look good.

Damn you guys...damn you.
I was all decided on chrome, but noooooooooooo you have to post a hot looking PS like that...
I think I am decided.
Black has been done to death, and will look lame with BSP.
Chrome...looks good, and might look good on the car...but $200 more is asking a lot...and it might look ricey.
You guys win...looks like it will be HB! Thanks to everyone for the help, especially you, Roxor!

Well,
I have some news.
First of all, I had always thought hyperblack was just a light grey color; hence my resistance to ordering them. I recently found out that it is actually a "black chrome" effect, which is awesome!
I ordered the wheels/tires about 2 weeks ago, but both the wheels (hyperblack) and tires (Nexen N-3000) were on backorder for 2 months. I got a call today that the wheels AND tires came in early for some reason, and they are already on a Fed-Ex truck on the way here. They are already mounted & balanced, and they come with spline drive lugs and centering rings. They should be here saturday or monday, I will post a pic as soon as I can get them on. I will take at least one pic like the PS above so that we can critique Roxor's work. :lalala:
Ohh, and to preemptively silence the broken records in the audience, I know I need to lower the car, I will be buying the Tien H-techs when they come out.

Well, they are here!!!
I have one problem though, they sent 54.1mm centering rings, I am pretty sure the xB is 60.1mm. I am gonna be ____ed if they are wrong. I will prolly mount them up anyway.
Well?
You had all afternoon to get them on. I thought sure there would be a pic of them on the car by now?

They gave me the wring hub-centric rings. They are 54.1mm ID, xB is 60.1 mm. I have to wait until Tuesday for them to open so I can _____ them out.

09-02-2007, 04:16 PM
I know a few people that have put wheels on without using the hub centric rings (usually cause they lost them lol) without any negative side effects. I don't know if I personally would want to do that, but I know it can be done.
Bigfieroman
09-02-2007, 05:05 PM
I know it is certainly possible, if you take a lot of time with the conical lugs and really make sure it is centered, you will most likely be able to get it close enough to avoid vibration. I am just not sure I feel like taking them back off in a week to put the concentric rings in when they come (even if I don't have any vibration, I will still put them in once I get them). I dunno...i was considering washing the car later, I may just toss them on at that time...I really want to see them on the car...

09-02-2007, 10:16 PM
Well, I just finished putting on my new wheels, which was an adventure in and of itself because 1 of the twenty lugnuts was the wrong thread (noticed before it ruined the stud) and the hub-centric rings had the wrong ID (centered using the lugs, very difficult, but done with no vibration!) and I was on my way to put some air in the tires.
I was going down a 35 mph road, and the van in front of me stopped to make a left turn. I stopped about 15 feet behind. I did not stop quick or anything, just kinda gradually braked down from 35 and held the car with the brakes.
Wham!
Wham!
Some woman in a New Beetle Convertible smacked me from behind...twice. I was able to keep the xB off of the bumper of the van in front of me...barely. Anyway, it is definitely her fault, and I called the cops immediately, so that is on file.
The damage is bad under the bumper. I am pretty sure the unibody is bent and will need pulled out. If I had to guess, I would estimate $1500-$3000 in damage. I am getting it fixed at the dealer.
On a positive note though, the wheels look awesome!

09-03-2007, 02:45 AM
Dang man! Sorry to hear about the car. :(
As expected the wheels do look very good.
On another note, where did you get the wheels and tires? It sounds like there were a few issues with the services provided by them.
Bigfieroman
09-03-2007, 04:38 AM
I got the wheels/tires from Wheels 1 in Florida. They were advertising the wheels and tires w/shipping, nuts, rings, mounting, etc for $800 on ebay, but they were cheap Chinese "Wanli" tires. I asked about Nexen n3000 tires, and they said $875 total, which is $25 less than Wheels Next...plus, Wheels Next said they were backordered for 2 months.

As you can see, there actually is some unibody damage. The body is crinkled in the corner, and the place where the brackets bolt up looks to be pushed in a little bit. That could add a bunch to the adjustment being done tomorrow...
Ohh, and a pic to critique Roxor's work:

Un ____ing believable.
I just took the car to put the air in the tires that I intended to put in when I got hit.
A small deer ran into the side of the car while I was going down the road. I cannot tell in the dark, but there doesn't APPEAR to be any damage...I will be able to tell in the morning though. I just can't believe it.
The same car you found the rims on hit ya. Glad to hear you and the car are okay, although it would have been funny if the exact same beetle in the picture was the one that hit ya :P .

Yeah, amazingly enough it was one of the first thoughts through my head. Here is the progression:
Wham!
What the?
Wham! (Dumb _____ hit me twice)
____!
If that was an old xB, I am going to ____ing throw down with this motherflipper...
Edit: the damage, not including the deer, was $1742.
Actually, not ALL better. There are some things it needs to go back for. The driver's door is dull and orange peeled, it need a full buffing, they messed up my window molding with the buffer, one of the clips in the wheel well is still broken, and there is a blem on the hatch body guy is gonna fix it all at fist service in 1000 miles.
