wrong subforum, you should be in "drivetrain/power".

You say it comes on and goes off? The cel and maint light always come on right when you turn on the key, but will turn off after a few seconds. That is the ECU's way of telling you that the lights are working. That is normal of any obd equipped vehicle.

Is that all you are seeing happening or are they staying on for any length of time?

and the maint required light is in regards to your oil changes being due...it only reminds u to get an oil change if it stays on for a little bit after start up. Read your owners manual

that's what my buddy said ( i am in iowa for work, so he installed it) so i am not sure if it does that like you have said where it comes on and goes off (because i know it does that when you start it) but i will check for sure tomorrow when i return to iowa.

and i doubt its for the oil change if it stayed on since i've only got 1700 miles on the car. but that's good info to have that it comes on saying that that is one of the reasons it come son.

thanks for the help guys and ladies.

The maintenance light only refers to oil changes. It is just a counter that looks at the mileage since its last reset. The CEL is the light that lets you know when a trouble code is set.

lol

We have an oil pressure warning light as well.

When you change your oil, follow the instructions in the manual to reset the maintenance light so it comes on again in 5000 miles. It is just a reminder light.

fyi, if the CEL is solid drive it to the dealer (it could be as simple as a loose gas cap), if its flashing pull over asap and call a tow truck.

...or is it the other way around? lol.
