View Full Version : Rear sway installed
zoltiz 08-09-2007, 07:04 PM http://zoltiz.com/cars/xD/swaybar/
Took about 20 minutes - had to jack the car up and take the wheels off. Other than that - nothing special.
Was surprised to see that xD comes with no rear sway at all.
Big_Bird 08-09-2007, 07:06 PM looks good, how's it handle now?
that's surprising, bet we'll have a few tossed around xD's
zoltiz 08-09-2007, 07:08 PM I didn't get to play with it yet - was hauling 6 tires and 4 wheels in the back after lunch and had a suspicion that I forgot to tighten the lugs on one of the rear wheels after the install. After the new tires are installed tonight, I'll play with car in the local twisty road.

Looks good!
BTW, what is that little black box tucked up behind the fuel tank? Is that the fuel pump?
zoltiz 08-09-2007, 08:00 PM Evap charcoal filter I would guess. Pump is in the tank.
tCTaco 08-09-2007, 08:09 PM Nice job on the sway, been thinking about the TRD or waiting for the Hotchkis
on a side note that has got to be the stupidest looking stock exhaust I think I have ever seen
zoltiz 08-09-2007, 08:12 PM I like that weird muffler :) Not planning to replace it anyway, and it does not take up much space and is pretty light.
tCTaco 08-09-2007, 08:45 PM Just looks funny the way in comes in and then comes out....At first I thought it was a wrap around like the ol school Mugen mufflers for Hondas.
rspain85 08-10-2007, 12:39 AM i was thinking the same exact thing when i saw that pic, thats stupid when they could've made it exit out the back of the muffler and saved a huge power robbing bend, not that its gonna make THAT much of a difference, but still...
Elijahtc 08-10-2007, 06:53 AM lemme know how the trd sway bar is cause I got my xD tonight and I need to start modding it out. 15% window tint is gonna be the first mod.
zoltiz 08-10-2007, 01:36 PM Sway bar does help a little with body roll. Hopefully springs will finish it off.
Speaking about tint - I did 35% front, 15% back last night - still drivable at night. Will test heat-resistance today - it's been getting to 100F in the shade here lately.
blown_xa 12-21-2007, 11:36 PM Just installed my rear sway last week. Really helps correct the understeer and is a must for auto-x!! I was expecting the drastic change in handling so it didnt shock me too much as it was the best suspension mod I did on my xA.
If you push your car hard and race it at auto-x's or time attacks you will notice an awsome improvement. Daily driving you won't notice. Best bang for the buck suspension component imo.
jmbreeze23 11-21-2008, 07:04 AM I helped my BF with installing the rear sway bar. We too jacked the back up and removed the wheels.
I've only driven about 50 miles since it was installed. It has seemed to help tighten up the back end for taking on/off ramps from the freeway.

do you think sway bars are a must?

I don't know if I think it is a must..... perhaps others will have a different opinion. I've owned other 4 cyclinder cars and never had it on them.. so I didn't know any different. I just took the advice of some of the folks on here and installed it.
Of course some people say the average daily driver, such as myself, won't notice a difference if it's installed.
