View Full Version : Better alternative to Premium HU in price range?

Looking at HU's in the price range of the Premium HU.
The Premium has 3 preamp outputs right? Forgive my ignorance but do we need 3 pair or 2 pair + 1 mono for the sub?
I'd also like to keep AUX IN since I have an XM Inno.

Opinions on these?
Dual XDVD8181
Dual XDVD8182
Dual XDVD8285

Or should I just make the jump to the Pioneer AVIC-D3?

Perhaps just do the Premium and call it a day?

i have not used the d3 but it seems to be verry popular in this fourm also i would stay away from dual at all cost. the pricing is nice but you definately take a hit in quality.

I haven't had any experience with Dual, but my wife's step-brother has one in his tC and he's been happy for around 2 years now.
Thanks for the input, hopefully some more folks will chime in.

I meant the ~$400 Pioneer one, not the NAV. I figured already the Pioneer D3 is probably a great way to go.

Thanks all.

I personally like the premium stereo. The stealer price is pretty high but you can get one pretty cheap on eBay from time to time.

Definitely the D3...

You have the D3, right Noodles? Feedback on it please?

Yes I do. Effing great. I've had single din flipouts, double din flipdowns and the D3. Highly recommended. I have Sirius, BT, iPod, steering control, Wii and PS3 hooked up to it along with my sound system and 32" TV and it is the ish. Would put this in my entire family's cars if they would let me. Nav is great on it. Had it for 5 months and will probably buy a couple more for relatives.
