Default Wrecked Today - Advice? (sad pics...)

So I'm typing this with one hand because my finger is broken. Otherwise I'm okay, but my box isn't. Happened while making a turn, hit another car. Seat belts, air bag, pretensioners went off, very minor injuries to me and my passenger. Feels very safe even in the accident

Now, I'm not sure if the accident is bad enough to be totaled, what do you guys all think? I really hope it isn't, I _love_ this car

From the side doors back, cosmetically everything is ok. Only windshield glass is broken. Pictures say the rest...

PICTURES HERE: http://scribers.neondsl.com/airwalk/...ion_crash.html

I know the front passenger wheel is in bad shape, anyone know a place around STL that could do repairs on wheels?

Will keep updated on status w/ insurance. Thanks all!

I hate to say this but when Airbags deploy it is USUALLY a total loss. I could be wrong but having been in SIMILAR crash that was my experience. also damage to firewall appears evident and that also is not good. I hope you get a good settlement from insurance company if this is the case. I COULD BE WRONG TOO...

Am glad that you are ok . Thats the important thing.

I just got in a wreck with a NASTY curb and my right, lower control arm was all fracked up and had to be replaced. Other than that 600 or so dollar expense, I needed two new wheels and one new tire. Came out to be 1200 with labor and all.

Somehow I managed to not screw up the paint or body AT ALL, so I thought it would be a 100-500 dollar adventure for new wheels and tire... Yarr, of course not. As soon as I crashed, I didn't care at all about the cost or possible groundage from the parental units (yes, I'm young. D: ), all I cared about was if my baby was gonna be ok and live again... Thankfully she's back in working order.

Sadly, in your case, you might not get out so luckily. It looks like your frame may be out of whack and who knows what else. Engine might be all shoved together. In my case, it looked better than it actually was. Hopefully, in your case it looks worse than it actually is. Let's hope it will live again.

I'm glad you are ok man... Don't beat yourself up about the crash man. It will kill ya on the inside.

On a completely different note; I could imagine that your xB was pretty awesome looking man! Very nice wheels; what are they?

I hope so. Engine is shoved in a bit, I suspect frame damage. Even with the problems with repairing frames, I really really hope it won't be totaled out. Very small chance of that, it seems.

Those were Sevas 3Twin 18" on TRD springs. I haven't seen many other people with them... I'll miss them

Me too. I don't know another car I'd rather drive.

I'll hear from the insurance company on Monday.

Hmm, well... No more new 1st gens around here. If anything, it'll be used. Would hate to _not_ get another xB classic. =/

I know that moving the aftermarket stuff to another car will be a PITA: all things stereo, Viper, cathodes, underbody LEDs, etc. Ehhh.

Again, for everyone who hasn't been in an accident and may be curious, this car's frontal crash safety features really worked well. Besides my middle finger on my left hand and some bruises, both of us in the car are fine. Always wear your seat belt, because I might not be around if I didn't! :D

Also, using a computer really sucks when you only have one hand, a thumb and your little finger to type... and I work as a software programmer!

Airwalk, you should be fine as long as they don't try and lowball you on what your xB is worth. There are plenty of 1st gens out there. Some even have nice mods already. Just shop around and don't rush for the first couple you see. Heck, you might even find your next one from someone on here. Chin up it's not the end of xB land for you. It's a new chapter. You get to hunt for whatever color you want.

The more you remove the lower the settlement check also. I know this from experience. Mine was 14,000 Worth of damage. Was not as customized though. Got a 2nd Gen with settlement money

Good to hear you made it out of the incident basically unharmed(minus the figure).

Don't count on resurecting the xB ..... I'd be working towards getting a proper settlement- then go for another car(Scion ?!).

Wow, $14,000? A lot of my friends think the car won't be totaled, but the car is so inexpensive that you can reach total loss a lot easier than most other cars.

Just talked with the agent, he said that the aftermarket parts are not covered at all and won't be included in the settlement. I'll have to tow the box somewhere to get the ICE stuff removed.

I hope they don't lowball, but I also have GAP insurance from Scion, so I should be getting a fair settlement in the end.

I'll know the car's fate for sure on Monday. If it's totaled, it's hunt-for-xB1 time...

Thanks everybody for the helpful comments

It should be totaled, good luck with the outcome.
