Boxer_Rebellion 08-15-2007, 01:00 AM That's exactly what I was waiting to see done... looks great!
xbbox 08-15-2007, 07:55 PM Very nice! Did everything just bolt right up? Had to make anything? Brackets? Feel a difference?

Need to make 1 bracket, real simple tho. There is a bit more performance and it is louder too.
KevinTxB 08-15-2007, 08:22 PM it makes the engine louder or the exhaust? do you have the trd exhaust?

Custom dual exhaust but its gonna make the engine louder because of the removal of the air box.
xbbox 08-15-2007, 08:48 PM Is that the bracket on the left hand side of the 3rd pic?

No, its actually the bracket under the small round rubber insulator on the underside of the intale. The bracket you mentioned comes with the kit.
Check this bracket out, See link here ---> http://www.scionapocalypse.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=5011#5011
cincinfocal 08-17-2007, 01:15 PM ona side note...i have a question about the stock intake..there is this second filter layer...this carbon or whatever insert...thats permanent in the box...there is no emissions issue with removing that? i have to read again but i thought i read something where that should not be removed...

If your worried about it then buy a drop in TRD or K&N filter and be done. The second layer is probably for sound resonance or has to do with squeazing out a bit more mileage but I will ask around to see what it is.
cincinfocal 08-17-2007, 01:58 PM the thing is that i want an pipe intake...not this stock box..but yeah...dont know if that thing is mandatory in there for the life of the vehicle...
n2htwlz 08-17-2007, 02:32 PM The whole box gets removed even if you install the TRD cold air intake too :lalala:
cincinfocal 08-17-2007, 02:35 PM ok..cool...gonan do the short ram set up now :D with the old tc :D nice! thanks n2htwlz
cincinfocal 08-17-2007, 02:51 PM is this the intake you got? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05-06-SCION-tC-SHORT-RAM-AIR-INTAKE-W-BLUE-FILTER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ019QQitemZ290150947138QQtcZphoto

Similar but basicaly the same intake.
matt311 08-19-2007, 04:03 PM looks good .. BUT your not getting cool air from right there... where that is located .. that is where the hottest air comes from the engine on the new xB....
xbbox 08-20-2007, 10:46 AM A short ram intake is not made to pull in cold air. You will only get that from a cold air intake. A short ram is designed to pull air in more quickly. Gains are roughly about the same between the two, just all depends on what look you rather.

Great answer  .
I like the short ram intakes better anyways, in my opinion :silly: .
matt311 08-20-2007, 02:00 PM I guess it is more about look.. because it dosnt seem as if it would pull in air much faster just b/c its shorter... but oh well.. looks nice...
xbbox 08-20-2007, 05:58 PM Deff pulls air in faster, less of a strain on the engine, less turns and bends to go through.
Example, take a straw, put it in your mouth and the other in a cup of water and suck in really fast.
Now take about 5 straws, make one really long straw with them put it in a cup of water and suck in, which one is easier?
The shorter one.
randode 08-29-2007, 04:07 PM and now the cold air version:

azepolyn 08-29-2007, 04:22 PM btw ... I believe that adapter to also be useable by 07 and 08 tC owners that have 05-06 intakes ... or has this already been discussed?
ScionFred 08-29-2007, 04:53 PM IMO you'll get the same performance gain from a short ram and a CAI... on a dyno with the hood raised and a fan blowing cold air on the engine...

yeah, fits tC too!

i thought so, I totally needed your adapter plate when I was trying to fit my 06's CAI on my 07. That's cool tho
randode 09-14-2007, 10:16 PM 6,000 miles on the randode xb2.
no CEL.
you need this!
