Default UPDATE: S/C partial throtle accel howl/moan noise

Anyone else with an s/c getting a howling or moaning noise under partial throttle accelleration? Like air blowing past an opening sept that it seems to be coming from the belt side.
...it kinda sounds like when Obi Wan powered down the Death Star's tractor beam -or- if you're a Peter Griffen fan, the sound a man makes when you shave his back.

no, this is a howl around 2-3k rpm under partial throttle accelleration that sounds like you're blowing across the top of a bottle sept it's comming from the belt side of the motor.

I get a buzz when I let off the gas when in 5th at around 50mph, but I think it's something in my interior

ugghh...the infamous interior after s/c install rattle-buzz. Mine happened right after the supercharger install. It was being amplified through the driver side air vent

is it resonance from the supercharger, or is it actually something rattling?

A couple comments here...

Yes, I have the exact same "howl" noise out of my s/c, under the exact same conditions you describe. It only lasts a second or two as I pass that part of the engine rpms. I'm on my second s/c. I never heard it out of the first one (but then again, it had problems, so maybe hearing this IS a good thing!)

The drivers side vent buzz...yup...had that too! I tore half my dash apart trying to find it and finally took it in. Took the dealer two days, but they found there was a broken clip on the cover over the heater core, and the cover was rattling something fierce! Though the cover/heater core is on the passenger side, they claimed it was travelling up through the vent and therefore sounded like it was coming from my driver's side vent. I was very skeptical, but they replaced the panel under warranty and voila, the noise has been gone ever since!

Now, if I could just get rid of all those other rattles...

CONCLUSION: Its the oem BPV ... the valve is responding directly in a completely normal way to an inconsistent pressure differential on either side of the throttle body as it is being modulated the same way an atmospheric BOV would flutter under the same conditions. Since our stock BPV is a rubber diaphragm it makes a howling sound which is amplified by the intake.

ehh i got a aftermarket one it does the same... i think its cause of the gears thats used the gears are straight cut gears, which is like a honda trans... so... im not really workin about it

^ No, thats the normal whine, not the noise we're speaking of and the TRD S/C has helical cut drive gears not straight gears.

I switched out my BPV with a Forge hybrid BOV last night and the sound is gone. At softer spring pre-load settings on the hybrid piece I get an audible flutter at partial throttle.
