When changing to the TRD air filter I noticed that the stock air box top has an air horn with a grid to prevent large chunks from entering the intake system. It seems that if the grid is removed, more air will flow and possibly increase the engine performance. I need to find a xA air box from someone who has replaced theirs with a cold air system and no longer need the stock one. I plan to use the air box, do mods then do some air flow studies before trying to test on my car. I will post results on this group.

 

i have my stock box, and im SURE, im never going to use it again. I'll sell it to you, and ship it ASAP. Its sitting right behind me and it barely has 3,000 miles on it.

Id love to hear what you end up trying.. Ive tried quite a few different mods, have you tried swiss chessing?? works great! also you can try inverting the airbox, to see if you notice better flow or a way to get outside air to blow into the airbox via piping/.. just my 2cents
