Default Just bought my Black Sand Pearl xD. *Update pics.

This is the first time I have ever bought a new car.

I initially thought the xD was extremely ugly, but it grew on me over the past couple of weeks. I think it is hilarious that so many of the dealers here havent put any of the wheel covers on the cars in their lots. They look absolutely hideous without them. I told the Scion manager that on friday, and today he had covers on all of them.

So, I bought one with stability control and ordered a few accessories. I should be able to pick it up on tues. or wed. I ordered the 16" alloys, so I am excited to see how they look. I will post pictures of them when I get it.

I have been reading this forum many times daily and all of the input has been extremely helpful in making a decision. It is nice to have owner information available for such a new model.

So thanks to all of you. Here's to the future of the xD!

Congratulations on the new xD. Im sure you'll have tons of fun with that. With that color you should maybe consider what they did on this forum...

Default Congrats!

I got my black XD 2 weeks ago. So far I am very happy with it, it is a very nice little car. If you don't mind me asking; how much did the 16" alloys run?

Default 16" Alloys

$696.00 does not sound bad at all. Did you keep the standard tires?

get some close ups of the alloys. I'm thinking about getting them but haven't come across any close up pictures of them and I would like to see how they look. Thanks!

The Scion mgr at my dealership threw $795 for the 16" alloys at me, but considering he doesn't have them or my xD in yet, here's hoping he's wrong. Or can the dealers pretty much price accessories their way? I had thought everything was pure price.

Ditto on the alloy pics, I want to see that...

I paid $795 for the wheels. It was the MSRP listed in the Scion book of accessories for the xD. Maybe the $696 is a great deal.

I will definitely post pictures as soon as I get it. I will hear today if everything is in stock... cargo cover, wheels, wheel locks, etc. Nothing too exciting beyond the wheels.

Even the dealer said I am the guinea pig. They havent seen any of this stuff yet either. In fact, another couple bought a white one right before I got mine and we were the first two sold there. So, my fingers are crossed that they will look good.

Yes, I am using the stock tires. A cost savings I considered when buying the 16"ers.

So, I got a call today from the Scion manager saying that the 16" alloys are not being made available in the U.S. as of now. They have a price, stock #, and are pictured in numerous promo pictures and brochures, but are not actually available for order.

Can anyone deny or confirm this for me? I really dont like the look of the xB 16" rims, and really liked the xD alloys. I hope this is just a lack of information available, and not the truth.

I've seen 16" alloys as option in the South East Toyota group. They might've made a last minute change very recently, but I'd check with scion corporate before trusting the dealer.

Do you like the look of tC 17" wheels?

Cost me about $550 total with new tires.

Kinda like that:

Those do look good on the xD. Definitely an option if this whole situation doesnt pan out. Did you buy them from the dealer for that price?

Classifieds / eBay - there are tons of barely used tC wheels around.

Yes, it is very easy to see what is in your storage area if you do not have it covered. All of the xDs that I saw before buying one did not have the cover. I live in a sketchy neighborhood and need this kind of thing. Otherwise a gym bag might look like a goldmine to a crackhead. It is overpriced, but very effective. I will try to post some pictures of the cover when the hatch is down, and when it is not installed. For some, it may not be an issue at all. For me, I sleep soundly with it installed.

You have an alarm in your car and there is a button for it by the e-brake?

I have an alarm in mine but no button/light next to the e-brake, just a blinky light under the steering wheel at the very bottom of the dash.

That isnt a button. Just the LED and microphone for glass breaking sensor. The stability control, however, is a button to turn it off if necessary.

If you had Scion install yours you should consult the instruction manual to see if the glass breaking sensor should have been installed. It is possible they placed it elsewhere.
