I have an all black box. I am looking for some black housed head lights. I used to know of a company called darkside motoring that had some out there about 9 months ago. They were selling for I think 300 bucks. Does anyone know of any headlights like this or even similar that won't put me in the poor house.

These cost me less than $20 to make.

A couple other guys on the board have done this too. Cheap and sexy:

Actually I e-mailed them a while back because I wanted to put HID's, but they said they were all sold out and then I recently found out, from bBist in another thread, that the chrome ones are starting to be discontinued so if you find'em, buy'em. I heard there were bulb fitting problems with the projectors as well so people had to make the hole bigger, thus introducing moisture into the housing.

would rather have some black unchromed housings - less work to color-key them.

Same work with chrome as you would with paint. You don't have to sand off all the chrome, just rought it up with some fine sandpaper before spraying the primer.

almost the same - at the minimum it needs to be roughed until there is NO shine left and then fine sanded until there is zero sand marks - primer's just for an adhesion coat.

Those look pretty good. One of the reasons we didn't go that route is I thought it would cut down on the light being reflected from the headlight. Did something similar with the old Focus and it cut down on much of the light hitting the road. Did this have any impact on the functionality of the lights?

i was asking myself the same question. i wonder if it would cut down on the functionality of the headlight? :?:

I didn't notice too much of a difference. It was still really bright on the road at nights.

the portions bBist has painted there aren't part of the actual reflector - so light output being diminished is minimal -- now, paint the back parabolic portion and you may as well not even bother turning on the lights at nighttime 'cuase it wouldn't be any better than trying to drive with just the parking lights on.

I was just looking at my lights thinking about doing that, but of course someone beat me to it. It looks really hot!
