jamesIV 09-09-2007, 04:33 PM im in carlisle and work for faulkner harrisburg in pa, you can try using my xd also if you need any service information feel free to ask i can get you any factory info you need
rdfxb 09-09-2007, 07:45 PM I never done an LED swap before and i did it myself for the first time. It is so easy dude if you have any mechanical skills at all you can do it. Just get you a soldering iron and desoldering braid which soaks up the melted solder and you can do it. i practiced on a computer game controller first and i took it apart took off buttons off the board soldered it back up and it worked. Soldering is very easy but if your that nervous then keep searching.
dasaint80 09-09-2007, 07:56 PM um.....no I've been doing LED swap for 2 years. I'm saying I want to do a new xd gauges.
NeveNelEstate 01-20-2008, 01:38 AM um.....no I've been doing LED swap for 2 years. I'm saying I want to do a new xd gauges.
He's trying to get a xD to get a sample of what to do on the xD's gauges, he's already done tCs, xAs and xB2s so why stop there? am i right dasaint?
dasaint80 01-20-2008, 02:36 AM ^^^ HIT IT ON THE DOT!!!
xDevious 01-21-2008, 12:58 AM i would gladly give up my gauges to science if you haven't found someone yet :)
ChelsDS 01-21-2008, 03:08 AM That would be so cool to have a different color on my gauges!
Anyone in SoCal wana do this to my xD? :P
Big_Jim 01-21-2008, 03:22 PM steve, how about using sonyas car? ill give her my xb for teh weekend, and we can have teh xD at the shop.......
xDevious 01-21-2008, 04:46 PM ^^
yessss let's do it :)
Big_Jim 01-21-2008, 05:10 PM ...just be careful driving my car lol
dasaint80 01-21-2008, 07:46 PM after feb we can do it.
Big_Jim 01-21-2008, 07:50 PM Sounds good to me mang!
xDevious 01-21-2008, 08:49 PM lol where do i fit in this equation?
Big_Jim 01-21-2008, 08:50 PM you get to drive the xD with the led swap in it? lol
Runawayrogue 04-08-2008, 06:26 AM You guys do a swap yet? I'm looking to do mine but I'm wondering if it's just an LED swap, or if I have to do more like with the tC's HVAC?
Garage1217 04-12-2008, 04:58 PM As soon as my xD is in, I will be rocking a swap :) Will show how it turns out!
ChelsDS 04-13-2008, 04:32 AM Good! I really want to do a swap in mine but I don't want to be the test subject :P
Garage1217 04-13-2008, 04:35 AM My new baby will be the test subject :)
Runawayrogue 04-14-2008, 02:44 AM Haha I hear ya! I don't have the time to fix things if it doesn't just swap out easily. My main concern is I'm going to go blue and I don't want to end up with dim lights like what happens to a tC if you don't modify the electonics.
dasaint80 04-15-2008, 02:50 AM I never got he DIM issue in the TC with all the swaps I've done....I'm doing an XD soon actually.
Garage1217 04-15-2008, 02:55 AM You have never swapped an hvac in a tC then, if you do not use the resistor power ic, it turns out fugly dim. Takes the resistor / power ic mod to make it equal brightness to the gauge cluster no matter what led you use.
Big_Jim 04-15-2008, 03:18 AM ^^ are you doubting the abilities of steve?
thats not smart....
Garage1217 04-15-2008, 03:21 AM Well if that is what you call it, not sure how he managed to get any led other than red to be bright in a stock tC hvac without increasing power to the led *LOL* Hard to deny how leds physically work and voltage required to light them.
dasaint80 04-15-2008, 03:44 AM oh on the HVAC yes I thought he meant on the Speedo.
Garage1217 04-15-2008, 03:49 AM haha ok cool :) Yeah the only dimming is related to the HVAC :) The XD should have 0 dimming issues and I will show how to mod the cluster to be even brighter depending on light output.
Runawayrogue 04-16-2008, 12:32 AM Brighter? Oi, it's bright enough IMO! I'm thinking the XD shouldn't have any dimming issues as well on the HVAC side, but still I'd rather not be the test subject ;) My wife would kill me if it ended up with problems!
Garage1217 04-16-2008, 12:56 AM The xd hvac control knobs are common among many toyotas today, so no issue. Also the gauges will have no issue, they run at the proper voltage already as they are white leds stock.
Runawayrogue 04-17-2008, 02:08 AM Ohhhh well then... knowing that I might just pop them off and have at it! Blue/White here I come!
Oh wait... I have to have TIME to do this. DOH!
What about the side panels in the gauge cluster that house the warning lights and odo/gas meter. I want to do my ODO and gas meter in white, but don't they have the amber LEDs behind them?
ChelsDS 04-17-2008, 02:54 AM I'll just wait till this whole thing has been figured out, then I'll get mine done :)
Garage1217 04-24-2008, 05:09 AM 1st xd swap.

Runawayrogue 04-24-2008, 06:53 PM Very nice! Man it's hard to believe there's MORE LEDs back there than the tC... but oh well! How easy was the cluster to remove?
Garage1217 04-24-2008, 07:32 PM Cake to remove. Yank off the coat of arms surround and you will see two phillips screw / bolts on the bottom. Take those out, unplug the cluster from the front and pull it out. That simple.
