I currently drive a Mustang Gt. It is a very stiff car, there is no play in the suspension. I drove a lowered xB with 2" spy springs, and I think it is too bouncy for me. I wanna drop my xB 2" but I want stiff suspension. What springs are the stiffist? I assume that I want a lower compression rate, right? Thanks for your help...

hmmm, the tanabe's are a little bouncy too, i believe they are softer than the spy's - the spys are supposed to have the best ride from what i've heard - if you want really stiff suspension, you're better off going with some coil-overs that you can dial the settings in yourself :)

Yeah I have thought about the coilover thing, but I would like to try springs for now, if I can get a stiff pair...

I think you want the 5 zigen springs. They are a 2 inch drop and have a very stiff ride, in fact I think bBted is selling his. Might want to PM him on quality and sales.

i have ridden in an xB with Goldline's and they felt pretty good to me....did not notice any bouncing and it seemed to handle well....

maybe the Spy 1.25" drop Doc? i am thinking of doing that....

his looks good with that drop and the 215/40/17's which i have also....i was thinking on getting those springs as i think with less of a drop it would not be so bouncy...

also, i am thinking about getting 215/45/17 tires next time and they would fit better with the Spy 1.25" springs....

Well, how soon do you want the springs, and how much do you want to spend? There will be kg/mm springs available soon, and there will be a "race" version, and a "street" version... both with 55mm drop (same as the 5Zigens, and basically the lowest even the Japanese will go with stock shocks and struts). I will post the spring rates later. kg/mm are one of the premiere suspension manufacturers in Japan; they manufacture their parts in-house and produce suspension bits for lots of the other companies out there (including many high-end coilovers).

have u riden the springtech ones? those are stiffer than spy's and half the cost

i'm currently running goldlines, and they're somewhat bouncy. Its probably even more bouncy because of my wheels (215/35/18).. cant really compare to the spy springs because I havent drove an xb with them installed.

cabe toyota in long beach has the rsr down springs for around 200, from what i was told they are not a lowering spring, but a race spring, and it will drop your car 2 full inchs, but will be more stiff than any of the others out there

i'm not sure if Ground Control offers their coilover setup for the xB, but if they do, that would be the best way to go....you can get them for around $300 and you can order directly through them and specify what spring rating you want. that way you can get a super stiff ride if you want and still have the abilitly to control ride height.

i think you might be looking for shocks instead. isn't it the shocks that rebound the springs from bouncing? if it's bouncing up and down too much after you go over a bump or something, i'm pretty sure thats the struts. i remember a "test" to see if your shocks are worn out is put all of your weight on one corner of the car, then release quickly... if it bounces more than 2 times, they're probably in need of replacement.

but i could be completely wrong

finding a true adjustable coil-over system would be the best that way you can adjust the spring rate.

It's not the springs; it's probably the rebound damping on the shocks. Change your shocks too, or get coil overs. The stock shocks are not made to deal with the increased spring rates of sport springs.

If you're after stiff, I heard the TRD setup is stiff.

Yup, the TRD springs are stiff as all get out, but they only drop 1".

my springs are from sprint....they got me a pretty damn stiff ride...especially on 18's. it has almost no bounce to it at all.
