View Full Version : Customizing xD ChelsDS 08-27-2007, 04:25 AM This is the first new car I've had and since Scions seem easier to customize, what's a good place to start? I've tinted my windows so I guess thats a step huh? Rims next? No idea here :) Give me ideas! emptystreets130 08-27-2007, 04:43 AM a drop, then rim. Those would be my next two mods. ChelsDS 08-27-2007, 05:41 AM Why would I want to drop the xD? I prefer its height right now. ADRdesignCo 08-27-2007, 05:43 AM sound system? add some lowend? :) SwtC44 08-27-2007, 05:44 AM modding a car is all personal preference. a lot of people like the more aggressive look of a lowered car and also the added handling improvements. But it is all up to what you like lil_will 08-27-2007, 05:50 AM Drop it. It will look much better without the wheel gap. ChelsDS 08-27-2007, 05:55 AM sound system? add some lowend? :) What is lowend? Wouldn't I get better handling if I got 18" tires instead of the standard 16"? ADRdesignCo 08-27-2007, 07:38 AM low end.. like bass and what not :) ive heard mixedthings from 18". some times they help alot and sometimes it hurts, but then it gets really technical after that. yay for 17"s! lol HaYnSktC 08-27-2007, 08:31 AM i agree with the lowering idk about the xd but after i lowered my matrix it was like a whole new car..appearance wise and handling wise other than that a little bass is good or if your pretty good with paint maybe do a little on the interior? zoltiz 08-27-2007, 06:01 PM As far as handling goes with the xD - rear sway will make as much difference as the springs. But with two of them together - pleasure to drive. Wider 17s don't hurt, either ;) iKONA 08-30-2007, 06:10 AM De badge the hood! Fill it! Repaint it! KingLou 08-30-2007, 06:34 AM Personally, our xD is my wife's car and she doesn't care about mods, but I am anxiously awaiting a short ram intake from a reputable manufacturer (such as K&N, AEM, or something). I think the car would do well with an aftermarket intake, and I always hated the idea of standard intake boxes with their tiny little straws that they suck air through. It's just plain inefficient. As for a mod I would recommend for you....a car alarm with remote start. It is SO convenient to have your car running before you get to it to either warm it up or cool it down (depending on your current weather conditions). I don't think you will be disappointed. As a disclaimer however, if you have a manual, no one will install remote start on it, and for good reason.....there is the definite possibility that if, when you park you forget to put it in neutral and leave it in gear, and then you activate the remote start, the car can lurch forward (potentially into another vehicle or object). So, remote start is for automatics. If you are into bass, add an amp and subs. Otherwise, this car is too new for there to be much in the way of vehicle specific mods available. If you really want to be a pioneer (and you have money to burn), take your car to a reputable performance/tuning shop, and have them fabricate a turbo set up for you. You'll have the fastest xD around, and a quick car period. I bet some serious juice can be cranked out of that 1.8 liter engine. KiL ChelsDS 08-30-2007, 06:44 AM I like the emblems on the car, plus I think it would look funny with it even if it was filled in. About the autostart, I was thinking about getting it when I got the car, but I didn't think I would really need it. I know it would be really nice and fun to have but that was just more money. How long do you think it would take to make a turbo for the car? It would be really fun to put one in there and haul booty. I don't even know where some performance/tuning shops are around me haha. Maybe I'll just put some stickers on the car for now.. lol rvpps2rocks 08-30-2007, 04:10 PM De badge the hood! Fill it! Repaint it! x2 katchkillah 09-06-2007, 08:16 PM simple cheap easy mod, pull off the black tape on the doors (like all the other scions) shorberg 09-06-2007, 08:22 PM The basics are Intake, Headers, Exhaust, Wheels, Lowered, Stereo, Sub(s), Grill, spoiler, tint, light bulbs in headlights. you can also do things like light up the undercarriage with an underbody kit from oznium.com or randode.com, or leather interior, nav system, fiberglass custom subwoofer enclosures, shave door handles, depends on what you want to do with it really. you might just look around the forums until you see something you like! ChelsDS 09-06-2007, 08:35 PM simple cheap easy mod, pull off the black tape on the doors (like all the other scions) I have my windows tinted and I actually like the black tape on the doors. It makes it look bigger and sleeker. azepolyn 09-06-2007, 08:39 PM lol sounds like the best mod you can possibly make on your car is to not mod it at all. You really seem to like your car as is. That's awesome, but surely something sparks your interest ChelsDS 09-06-2007, 08:43 PM Haha yea I do like the way it is, but if a nice body kit came out I would probably go for it. I would actually like to make it agressive looking because it looks like it would be hawt like that. RockBlocker 09-07-2007, 09:29 PM Are you looking for interior, exterior or performance mods first. Or a little of all three? RockBlocker 09-07-2007, 09:29 PM Are you looking for interior, exterior or performance mods first. Or a little of all three? ChelsDS 09-08-2007, 03:50 AM I would say more of exterior and performance than interior. Who is really going to be in the car other than the driver? p: |
