I am in the market for some new wheels and I am wondering where I can buy the sensors. I know I could get them at the dealer but they will probably cost a bunch. Is there anywhere else I can get them for relatively cheap.

I am asking because I am going to have rims for the summer and wheels for the winter.

If you read this carefully, you will read that it will not matter if you buy just the sensor. Each sensor is programmed to work with 1 computer, and additional sensors will not work with the same computer. You will have to buy either a whole new system to work with your new wheels, or simply take the sensors off the stock wheels and install them on your new wheels.

No, you will have to buy a whole new system completely, they wont be able to match it to an existing ECU. You will have to install a new ECU and 4 new sensors. Its really an expensive job. You should really consider just driving around with the light on for the winter or summer lol

Wow I didn't realize it was that in depth. But how come on tires.com you can buy rims for the xB with the sensors in them already?

Here is some information that might be of help. It looks like you could buy another set of sensors but everytime you switch your wheels you would have to have the dealer update your sensor computer with new serial numbers. As for where you can buy them other than the dealer... not sure.

2007 SCION TC TPMS RESETTING INSTRUCTIONS

This system will reset itself when the tire pressures are returned to normal (placard pressure). If a higher pressure is required follow the steps below.

RESET PROCEDURES (Only if light stays on after setting pressures)

When resetting the system the air pressure in the tire at the time is stored as standard.

1. Set all tire pressures
2. With the vehicle stopped and parking brake applied, turn ignition switch to (IG) on position. Turning the ignition off will stop the resetting process, It is recommended to drive the car for 20 minutes after step 3.
3. Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the tire pressure warning light blinks three times at one-second intervals.
4. Drive the car for approximately 20 minutes to complete reset.


SCION sensors transmit one signal every minute. It may take up to 2 minutes for the TPMS scan tool to pick up the signal and you may need to press the test button up to 4 times to verify the sensor is working.



If you break a sensor on a SCION:

Replacing sensors on a SCION requires the sensors ID to be entered into the computer for the position it is located at. To do this requires a Data-Link connector. If you replace a sensor make sure you write down the broken sensors ID, and the new sensor ID. Sensor ID’s are on the top upper right corner of the sensor. The old ID needs to be removed and the new ID needs to be entered. If you do not have a Data-link connector you cannot reset this system after a sensor is replaced.

You are 100% wrong... u only need to get the numbers off of the new sensors to put in.. u can get 4 sensors.. BTW i have 4 tpms Sensors for sale $200 let me know.. either have the toyota dealership put them in.. or have them put in by someone else.. but before u do that there is a alphanumerical code on the back of each sensor i think it is a 7or 8 digit code.. and write those down and take them into the dealership and ask them to put the codes into ur tpms it should only take 15 mins to do this.. hell i can do it in 8 mins and thats with a 1 mile test drive too..

I'm a bit confused...
So I bought a set of take-off tC wheels from a 2007 to put on my 2007 tC.
I need to dismount every single tire and write down the codes on each sensor?
Or can I just reset my TPMS according to the TSB/ Sgtfluffy16's directions on his thread?

if u bought another set of wheels..with differnet tire pressure sensors.. then yes.. each wheel has to be broken down and the code needs taken off each sensor and programmed..with a toyota tech stream

So what option would generally be cheaper.
1. Dismount new wheels, get new sensor #s, and reprogram.
OR
2. Dismount old and new wheels, transfer old sensors, and reset.

well personally id get a second set and have them installed in the wheels.. and just make sure u keep the numbers of each set.. cuz they will have to be programmed in each time u swap wheels.. since scions are not as highly equipped as lexus' are.. they (lexus) have a switch to have a main set and 2nd set for tire pressure sensors meanin u can have 8 tps installed in the system and at the flick of a button the car will be set to the other set of sensors.. i do not think the 07 and up scions have this button just a reset one.. if there is it will be in the glove box.. or under the dash on the driver or passenger side..

BTW I have 4 sensors for sale

I have 2 sets ( 8 ) sensors.
The working set in my 16" steel wheels (tC Spec) and the other set in the 17" OEM wheels off a 2007 tC that I just bought.

Looks like I'll have to cough up more dough to get the TPMS working properly.

does this apply to rotating tires too?

^^Never had a problem when I rotate my tires.

when u rotate tires in a direct reading.. no.. i have heard of some occasions with the older scions.. if 2 wheels have a big difference in tread depth
