I have a 2000 chevy impala and it needs new brakes. Everytime i stop the back breaks make a deafening noise. I went to Meineke and they want 400 dollars to fix the problem. New rotors, Break pads, Calipers, installation, labor etc. Do you think its worth 400 dollars or am I getting ripped off?

you should call around, i would recommend calling some mom and pop shops in your area and see how much they would charge......it will make you feel a little more comfortable as well.....

Yes, but do you think that this is an outrageous price for the job that is being done, or is this just what it costs?

i dont know......that is why i just advised you to do that........sorry......
In general, when you have to change out your rotors its gonna be more expensive vs. just changing break pads and shaving down the old rotors. Also companies like pepboys, Meineke, etc are gonna be a bit more expensive then your mom and pop store.
A couple of years ago i had the front breaks done (including rotors) on my 94 accord for $290... so if you have the time i would check at least one more shop.

that isnt the worst price for it to get done. But to make you feel better call around first!
