So I misjudged where the front of my car was and I ended up doing this. I was at a neighborhood call box trying to get the client to open the gate. I'm pretty miffed about it but there isn't a whole lot I can do. I knew exactly what the noise I heard was. I was wishing it had been my rim as I'm replacing those anyway. I took it to a body shop and they said it was fixable but would probably be around $200-250. I'm thinking for that I should just get a lip and be done with it. I think it's low enough that a lip would completely cover it. Anyone got an NBM lip for sale or trade? I do computer work and I install custom home theater systems for a living. I can get sweet deals on some good products! I know there is the RS1 lip and the stock OEM lip but are there others? What would a carbon fiber lip cost me? I'm thinking just about as much as a primered lip and some paint. I want to spend as little as possible as this is not something I planned on changing right now. Looking for ideas here...

I'm 99% sure a lip would cover that.

 

heres the thing. you hit it once, youre gonna hit it again. i have the same thing on my car, except in the front. i also have lowering springs, so the lip isnt an option for me. i say let it be a lesson and hopefully it wont happen again soon. but if and when it does happen, it wont be nearly as bad as the first nick.

 

2nd'd. OEM or RS1 would cover that. There really aren't many others out there that I know of, at least not to get only a front lip.

 

I've been lowered for over a year and this is the first time. I'm usually really careful because I know I'm gonna hit stuff. I make an effort not to. Just got careless today I guess. I'm gonna hit it with a little sandpaper to try to clean it up for now but would still like to make it go away. Gotta keep it lookin clean. I'm getting some wheels next month and don't want a horrible gash in my bumper when I go to take pictures to post. We'll see what happens

Yea it's on my list of things to try. I'm gonna attempt to clean it up as best as I can. Btw, the headlights aren't foggy. I've got blue rockblocker vinyl over them. And as stated I know it needs a wash...pretty badly actually

 

First thing... try clay. Rubbing compound will do nothing but scratch the crap out of your paint.

 

Are those gaps under your headlights a result of the scrape, or was it always like that? I have the same thing and it bugs the hell out of me. People say it's normal but I don't like to accept that answer. It looks like you have pretty big gaps, about the same size as mine.

 

always been there. i've never been hit or gotten into an accident. this is the first damage ever done to the car

Lip kit would be the good way to go.

clay baring and buff if not always can add a lip

 

get the rs-1 carbon front lip like i did. i cracked the bottom of my bumper but you'd never even know it now that the lip is there.

 

this is an unnoticable area. I recommend getting some paints and clearcoats from an autoshop or paintscratch.com, and DIY.

I HAVE THE same exact scratch on the same side lol mine was because i got cut off on the cross island pkwy and got sent into the concrete barrier , ____in _______ thank god that was all the damage. but yea i was thinkin a cb lip but idk it doesnt really bother me looks more like a battle scar kinda lol and besides im runnin s-techs so a lip might not really be a sensible option ya know. imo id just leave it alone , youll prolly scrape again.

 

yea i've got s-techs as well. probably the only reason i hit the curb. and it's also my hesitation with a lip. I don't want something that will hang off a whole and be a magnet for more damage

 

oh, i didnt even notice the drop. either way you should be fine. The front lip extends out and makes the bumber parallel to the ground instead of angling up ... if that makes any sense?
