Default Weird? Don't think i purchased Scion Security but...

for no reason at all... my car alarm started going off...

wait a tick.. I DON'T HAVE A CAR ALARM!

But my car has that auto-locking feature...and the lights illuminate/d-illuminate when i unlock/lock the car.

I just pressed lock...and the alarm went off. I tried the panic button (as i've tried many times before) and no alarm. It was just weird. My lights were flashing and my horn blaring... I was wondering whos alarm was going off for 30 min...so I finally went outside...AND IT WAS MY CAR?!?

When I originally bought the car..it had a bunch of add ons that i didn't want on it...so they took some stuff off..maybe Scion Security was one of them...and they just turned off the Panic feature?

Eh, I'm convinced its the Scion Ghost.

By the way..I'll die before I go to my dealership...all the south bay ones are crooks. CROOKS I SAY!

I wondered about this. Do we all have an alarm of sorts? I pressed my panic button once and the horn started going crazy. I never realised I had an alarm until I decided to press it. I thought it was just remote locking.

sounds like you just hit the panic button, or your key remote has a short in the lock button and is triggering your panic mode. Panic mode isn't an alarm. an alarm would sound when the door was jarred open, window broken, etc...

I just have a panic button along with the lock and unlock button. Panic/find and alarms are two different things but they are both tied into the same lighting and horn system.

Well knowing scion, they can't remove something that was installed at the port or the plant.

chances are you don't have scion security. we ALL have panic buttons with horns/lights that go off when pressed. lock your car with your keyless entry and then unlock it with your key and open the door. no alarm. no scion security

I've pressed the panic button before...and didn't do it this time. Whenever I press it nothing happens...and nothing has happened in the past 2 years of owning my car. Even after i pressed lock and the alarm went off. I tried pressing PANIC nothing happened. Like I said...this is a first. And its odd... hah

You have to HOLD down the panic button for it to work. It says so right on the remote.

try this. Unlock ur car, open and close your driver door. Walk away and let it sit there for a minuet. Come back and open your driver door. if the alarm goes off you have Scion Security, if it doesn't you don't.

^^^ok thats kinda point less because the window isn't down and you didnt lock the doors again. I could just walk up and open it without the alarm blaring.

here it is. unlock door, roll any windows down, lock door with remote, unlock the doors though the open window. If alarm goes off you have the security.

did you have your keys on you when car "alarm" was going off?

sometimes mine goes off because something like my key chain or cellphone pushes against the panic button.

do you have a security light in one of your blank panels next to the steering wheel?

It's not pointless. Since you opened ur driver door after deactivating the alarm the doors won't relock (read the manual) and if you have Scion Security the alarm will Activate 30 seconds later regardless of weather the door is locked or not. So if you open the car afterwards the car alarm will go off. I know it happens cuz It happens to me all the time when I'm cleaning my car buddy.

you are all doing this wrong!!!!

Lock your doors. take a brick and throw it through the window (Doesn't matter just pick your favorite) and see if the alarm goes off.......

^^ That's the only way to truly test it. I prefer the front window myself.

reread your original post. you said unlock and open and close the doors. If you do it that way, it won't relock after 30 secs. Thats if you press the unlock button and DO NOT open any doors, it will relock itself after 30 sec. It's been like that on several other Toyota's I've played with even with the vip3200+ system.

and if you saying let you car sit there for a minute so it can relock itself, you won't be able to open the doors anyways.

Exactly. It won't relock. If it locks the doors it'd be pretty hard to open the door. If it doesn't relock the Alarm will still activate 30 seconds later but the door won't be locked. Therefore when You open the door, you'll trip the alarm(if you indeed have it).

I think we're both getting at the same thing just misunderstanding what were trying to say.
