Default 08 XB vs Tc!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I am really liking the 08 xb and Am thinking about trading my tc in but I must know does anyone have quarter mile times on the xb2 I know that It is slower but by how much and What do XB2 owners love about their cars. I know that opinions vary between person to person and I don;t want to make it a drag car or anything but can it at least handle better than a tc???? I want something that's a little more practical and I just think it looks cool any help is greatly appreciated because I can't make up my damn mind!!!!!!!

My wife got a second gen xb last month. I would never trade my tC for it.

okay, what don't you like about your tc? does the second gen xb not have these adverse characteristics?

the xb is slower, gets worse mpg, and probably handles worse than the tc with its taller ride, vsc, and heavier curb weight.

how impractical is your tc? seats 5, hatchback, fold flat rear seats, up to 30 mpg nearly...peppy and handles okay.

no it's not gonna handle better than a tC. But if it's practicality that you are looking for then xB2 would definetly be your car. The new xB carried over the unique looks of the previous one, but its no longer a box, and it no longer just sips fuel.

But you are 19, you should be mad and your hair should be on fire. What are you doing looking for practicality?

The only advantage the xB has (besides space) is the manumatic transmission.

According to the sticker, the xB gets one more mpg than the 08 tC.

I almost fell on the floor when I saw that SSQ good one!

You know I honestly don't know I am a single 19 year old kid with no kids myself thank god but I guess I figured that If I can get a four door car with the same power as a tc and be more practical then I would be better off Crazy teenager not being satisfied with anything that I have right here J\k IDK just a thought to throw around!!

I think for xB drivers, not many of them are looking for practicality. It's really personality. It's easier to assume that the driver in the xB is "nice" compared to if you are trying to assume the driver in the tC is "nice". Oh yeah, I was being practical at the age of 21 and that's why sometimes people will see me driving a highlander with a paper bag over my head.

But it seems like the new xB is targeted at the folks that got their back broken while test driving the tC, but refuses to get a buick like the rest of their crowd because they think they are still young.

XB owners area seeming to be nicer as they wave back in most cases.........just kidding........

the new gen 2 is a hot ride.........but it is not gonna handle as well as the tC and has no where near the aftermarket support as the tC.....yet...........so really the question is as drax put it is there a baby on the way.......other than that stay where you are........

I finally saw a new xB at the dealership the other day. It was even more disappointing in person. (this is from someone who likes the original xB) If your going to get a 4cyl minivan, get a Mazda 5. If your looking for a car to have fun with there are much better choices out there.

yeah, i am just puzzled by this "more practical" than the tc.

my tc is my daily driver, use it to move to and from my dorm. use it to deliver large orders of food for catering at my restaurant. unless you need to regularly transport more than two people, and/or tall cargo that won't fit under the tc's sloping glass, then you really don't need the xb2.

once nice advantage the xb2 has is high riding position for better visibility i suppose.

No for everyone's information no baby on the way ( Thank god) But I do once in a long while have a need to move something I don't know random. Fridge, Washer, Body Lol I don't know I just wanted to know what TC drivers thought of the move from tc to xb I love my TC but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought if it would be a smart move or just be worse off especially since I want to start autocrossing. But thanks for the input guys!!!! I guess I will just use the extra money to supercharge!!!!!!!!

I actually love the new XB, My friend just got a white one (SO hot!)

Although it has the same engine and tranny, its MUCH smoother. Each gear slides in sooo easy and smooth. The clutch is very weird too. Its very smooth, makes it hard to tell when its engaging.

Its not as slow as people make it out to be either. As soon as I first got on it It felt almost as fast as my tc and I have a header and intake too.

We raced from a dig. I put 1 car on him instantly and only pulled about 1/2 length by the time we shut down at 80

If I was on the lot and had the choice between the two, I would get the XB, but its really not worth it to trade if you already have the TC

They're great cars for different reasons. xB is comfy and rides smooth as all get out. (16's vs 17's do make a noticeable ride quality diff) Really easy clutch, too. Even M/T newbies love the feel. It's geared differently, though. The TC revs way higher at the same speeds. If your 1/4 mile time is a huge concern, the xB is prob not the car for you, simply because of gearing and aerodynamics- but why not test drive it and see. For most haters who've come to kind of make fun of them the test drive changes their minds drastically. It's a great car and takes the loveable box concept to a whole new level.

This is a tc board. Of couse ppl will be tell ing you to keep the tc. I, on the other hand, voted for getting a xB. At the dealership, I was contemplating whether to get the xD or the tC. I chose the tC because it has more horses, and I loved the hatch. Antoher reason why I picked the tC is because I wouldn't have to be giving people rides. If you want a roomier, Scion Hummer, then you should definitely go for the xB.

yeah i second everything SoldU said, plus the xB has a higher center of gravity (worse handling). but that higher center of gravity will also get you a lot more cargo room. pros and cons to each.

Keep the tC and worry about a new car once it is paid off. You'll kick yourself for trading it in if you do. Guarantee it.
