Header R/R
I want to replace my headers and whole exhaust sys. I noticed that the Tech section gives detailed info on this but I have a couple of questions. 1) Will I have to remove any mounts to get to the headers to remove them and am I taking a big chance of snapping the bolts off that hold the headers on.
2) I would like to use the same cat converter. Would this be wise or should I buy a new one. I have 94,000 miles on my 2004 XB.

The only thing you have to watch out for is stripping the bolts that mount the header to the block. If your going to change the whole entire exhaust system, then your going to have to either cut out the old cat and resonator and weld it back on to the new exhaust, which i think is a stupid choice. Or you can go with a new cat, preferably high flow, along with a new resonator, high flow as well, and create decent power along with a nice tone.
Thats what i did. I bought a magnaflow high flow cat 2 1/4" with a high flow resonator 2 1/4" and had everything from the header back created a t the muffler shop. All OEM pieces were discarded.
