what were they thinking?
i got this tahoe in today and they were complaining about the check engine light being on, i check the codes and there were 2 for o2 sensors, so after i check out all the wiring and determine that it was faulty sensors i replaced them but i noticed that they were taped up so i took it off and this is what i found..........

what the fudge were they trying to do, i can only guess thats its a poor mans version of a o2 simulator or something of that nature, but it only ended up destroying the sensors and costing them $500,

Actually depending upon how it was connected it may have been leaning out the A/F mixture giving them better gas mileage but too lean would cause O2 sensor failure or overheating or both. It would depend upon the resistor values used and what the O2 sensor had for resistance normally.
well the way they had it wired it made the sensors stuck at 447-451 mv, then the ecm see's that its not switching and sets the codes and the checkengine light, which in our area causes you to fail your emissions inspection, but there is a upside, it puts more money in my pockets, hahaha, but then it is quickly gone again.....usually another mod for me
coming from a mini trucker background i have seen things that would make you cringe, but hey ghetto works if its done right...that doesnt look like it was done right, that looks like crap...
