xD-Man

I completely understand that car dealerships are in the business of making money, and to that end their job is to sell a car with maximum profit.
What they should not do, is screw their customers.
I went to Right Scion in Scottsdale to buy my xD. Slowly, over the course of the next three hours I experienced pretty much every lie a car dealer can tell a customer. It started with the sales manager saying he could not wave one of two dealer/doc fees. I should have left right then and there, but I didn't.
The next game they wanted to play was to ask how much I wanted to pay a month for my car. I knew they were going to try and take me for more money at this point. After they played their little game of running back and forth to the finance office pretending to be working hard, they came back with a figure I knew had to be inflated somehow. I decided to just get to the finance office and see what they had added on to inflate my monthly payment. I should have left, and still I didn't.
The finance office offered no relief from shady tacticts. I discovered that the purchase price of the car had been typed on the sales contract wrong, to push the purchase price up over $16,000. Were they hoping I wouldn't know that the price of the car was less than that? I don't know. They had also tacked on lojack, the most expensive extended warranty they offer, and a prepaid maintanence plan. They added all of these features without ever asking if I wanted them.
I let my wife talk me into buying the extended warranty and the prepaid maintanence plan. I made two mistakes that day. I never should have signed the papers and I never should have taken the wife along. :)
So now I am in the process of cancelling a prepaid maintanence plan that I was charged $1800 for even though they sent me the paperwork that is for the cheapest plan they offer. I am not sure who screwed that one up, but I am getting my $1800 back one way or another. The packet didn't even include information about half the services the finance guy promised would be in there like 15, 30 and 45 thousand mile services.
I can't wait to fill out a Toyota Customer Satisfaction Survey. I think I am going to call the State Attorney General and Better Business Bureau next week. I love the car, but I still have a sour taste in my mouth from buying it. I would not recommend Right Scion to anyone.
