I was wondering if anybody has ever painted their hood or trunk black instead of buying cf. I just want to see if there is a difference in look if you get the black paint at the right gloss.

Yes it looks different, unless you are really far away. It is tacky and lame, do NOT do it.

Yeah, it would look different, but cf imo is more done for weight reduction than looks, because I don't think it looks all THAT good, dosent look awfully bad though.

CF hoods look great. If you are choosing between cf and painting the hood black. I would choose the CF.

oh my crist i won't paint my hood. my friend told me it wouldn't be 2 bad if it was really glossy. I want cf its just so expensive.

o my... i thought that was a subie til i read that lol..... imo it might look so bad if done with the right gloss, but a flat balck on an old car i think it looks like either a half a$$ civic project or a replacement part not yet painted,
but as long as we are on the topic,.. how about a carbon fiber roll (obviously fake) and applying it like a decal on the hood? lol
