whats the worst mpg have you seen in yall's xA's

the worst i've seen in mine was around 31 mpg and the best i got was 36mpg

i get 40-44 when i drive moderately, and 30-36 when idrive like i drive, i have a grounding kit and a homemade intake, TRD exhaust, 14 pound wheels, i'm pretty happy with it, the worst i got was the 30 when i first got the car, i had to nail it everywhere i went.

my worst MPG was 27 mpg (autoand city driving); that was my first tank, too.

dang! im getting around 22-25, maybe even lower. but i'm also driving 30 miles to work everyday on hwy averaging b/w 70-80 mph.

I've had my RS for a little under a week now, and I'm getting a solid 33-35mpg so far... which is much higher than I anticipated with the bigger rims and all...

My first tank was 30, then 32. Went through both tanks in about 1 1/2 weeks. I've been babying it too.

I'm at about 6000 miles now and my normal commute is 26 miles each way with an average speed of approx 50 mph. I usually get 34mpg. If I check my mileage after a weekend at the lake house, which is 1.5 hours from home with an average speed of 70 mph, I normally get 37 mpg.

The worst I've gotten so far is 31.7mpg

I've only had my RS 1 for about 2 weeks, but so far my best has been about 36mpg and my worst 28mpg

Can't complain, its funny when I was filling up behind a Hummer H2 and I smiled thinking that the guy is going to end up paying more on gas than his car in the long-run, haha

and takes him a half hour to fill up too

Toyota should recall the 5 speed transmission and swap in a 6-speed. I hate going down the freeway (speed limit 70mph) at 3500 or 4000 or whatever rpm that is...another gear for freeway use would be awesome...I drive from school to home, 90 miles...freeway all the way. I get like roughly 28-32mpg.

and needs a lower torque and power band at a lower rpm range with a better finale drive, better diff. gear ratio!!!

I picked up a brand new XA RS to replace my old XA. I generally take it easy on my cars for the first thousand miles. Somehow I've already put 1,200 miles on it, and Sunday night I was driving home from northern California, averaged 90-100 as well for several hours, ended up with 25. Normally I get about 33-36.

I have to say that this car really could use a 6th gear.

As was talked about before, it may very well be likely that the the speedo hasn't been recalibrated on the xA!!

Actually -- if you check out this web page: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and submit the tires for comparison, you'll find that because of the low profile on the 17's it appears that (contrary to my own tests) the 17s are 1.2% SMALLER than the stock 15s. (i entered 185/60R15 compared to 205/40R17)

.... so if anything, tire size should be marking us with 1.2% better milage than we are actually getting... according to that web site.

if you drive around from full to empty on 1st gear the whole time... just maybe... and maybe.... you'll get about 21mpg...

I got a solid 36mpg after an all day driving like a madman excursion. City driving mixed with 85mph and 36mpg.

I was about to throw that question out today actually. I have a new RS1 and I have filled it up 3 times. The first time not a bit deal, i thought it was just the pump. But just filling up today I had to actually stand there and hold it, only squeezing the pump half way so It would fill.

This really ____ed me off about my mileage.

My first tank I got bout 320 miles on a tank.
This last one I only got 290.

I seriously have no idea what in the hell happened.

So today when i filled up I also pumped uo my RS tires to 50psi.

i know that the engine still needs to be broken in, i am only on 940 miles, but still 290 on a full tank, mostly highway driving, that really ____ed me off.

I still love the car.

It seems to be only some gas stations, some of the times, but it is definitely an issue. I wish I knew the answer to the question

My Fiance's xA started out only getting 25 mpg AVERAGE. It has since improved to a whopping 29 PMG. Yes, he drives like a lunatic sometimes, but we are both disappointed with the gas milage on our scions (mine is an xB and it gets 29 mpg average.)

I'm having the same problem trying to fill my tank. I have to stand outside the car, hoping that I don't accidently overfill the tank. I also want to make sure that I'm getting a full tank, because I travel frequently, and don't want to have to make a lot of stops. Does anybody know why certain gas stations do this and not others? Is it the station or the car? This would be really nice to figure out...if anyone has an idea. I need to know if this is a problem I can fix, or if I have to take it in to fix it, or if it's even fixable. Thanks.

best I've gotten is 38mpg or so, average 34mpg (mixed highway and city driving) and the worst is driving 90+ and got 27mpg

I have never seen 40+, how anyone can drive and get that I'd love to know

When I first got my xA I was getting 36 MPG. That lasted for about 6 tank fulls. I am now down somewhere between 33 and 35. I don't think the drop off is due to changes in the car, I really think I started driving the car harder. My best was just a bit less then 37 MPG on the second tank full.

I have also run into problems trying to fill up my RS. The pump was fueling normally until it hit about 3/4 of a tank, from there on I had to hold the pump and squeeze it in manually. I was also nervous about overfilling.

I think I may have won, the worst...

For me, it seems to depend on the pump. Happens only rarely for me, but I've never had the instint listed above regarding 3/4 tank. If the pump doesn't lock on, it happens almost immediately.

Fortunately, it's only about 9-10 gal. to fill, and that goes by fast.

There is a TSB out for this now. It replaces the tank and filler neck with a new design.

I think we are all experiencing this -- manual transmission is higher than auto in the higer speeds... but it is all about the gear ratio. A 6th gear on this thing would do WONDERS imho... i'm hitting 4000 rpms @ 80 mph -- no wonder i get 28 mpg at those speeds!!
