Default Spoiler: Should I or Shouldn't I?

The dealership is ready to install this on my xb2 but I'm just not sure if I want it done still. Those with them got any complaints? What about rumors or pics of another set, something more clean or JDM like? They look nice and all, but I still like the look of the xb's without them on. I'm just stuck..

No complaints, think it completely changes the look for the better 100%. I look at others without them and just can't stand it now but that is just my opinion. It will be interesting to see some of the aftermarket (non-TRD) ones that will be out soon, but typically parts like those are a little ricey for me. The TRD one is clean, simple, and adds a nice touch.

I'm stuck too, I love the look but it's $423 + install...

I like the clean look without the spoiler.

I'd be inclined to get the spoler if it wasn't over $400.

I like the look without it just fine and can't imagine it serves any purpose but visual styling.

I'd say go ahead and get it. Its OEM and it looks good. Its worth it IMO.

I personally don't like the look of the xb2 but if I did, it MUST have the spoiler on it! That spoiler is NICE!...

One more vote for no spoiler.

Again (like said in another thread), I got all factory accessories installed for free. According to my dealership and the area rep, the price quoted on the internet includes installation. Not saying this is right or wrong, but it was nice to get the wing and springs installed for $675 total for parts & install. Oh yeah, the floor mats also were installed for free

I decided against it for the simple fact of the price. It looks decent with it, but not needed. not like the tC needed a spoiler anyway.

does the spoiler help in reducing the amount of dirt kicked up on the rear of the car? i know some cars have functional spoilers that do that, but im wondering if the same goes for the xB2?

Highly unlikely.. the ammount of windspeed needed to have a spoiler of that size have any effect is on the order of 100 mph or more, so it's purely for visual appeal.

Agreed. Some subarus and other makes used to have wind deflectors that would shoot air downward across the rear window to help reduce road spray and other grime. But I think that worked minimally on my Subaru and isn't the goal here. Just my two cents.

IMHO...

If you look at the Five Axis xB that was used to introduce the 2008 model at the Chicago Autoshow, you'll notice it doesn't have the spoiler, and I think it's because the shape of the xB doesn't need it.

It's already a very clean, sharp look...IMHO.

The spoiler adds a needed edge to the "butt". I'm sure it has SOME function, but to me it's just a great looking add that helps break up the boring back end a little. I've heard it hyped as an aerodynamic feature and that it will help keep rain off the back window, but it's cosmetic when it really comes down to it. ( But what's wrong with that)

I almost got it with purchase, but decided not, just my humble opinion think it looks cleaner without the spoiler. Now of course if they should come out with a smaller, cleaner look spoiler I might change my mind. I had a Mini with the rear spoiler and liked that look as it was smaller and cleaner look coming off the back hatch, again just my opinion as I love the xB2 either with or without the spoiler, especially compared to the xB1 with anything on it....
