Default Xb2 fog lights

does anyone know how to get the fog lights to stay on when my high beams are on. i cant seem to figure this out. i just like to keep the road lit up in front of me. (after all i live in pa, the roads are horrible, and gotta watch for deer where i live). is it just a relay or is it in the headlight switch.

Scion has wired them to turn off when the high beams come on. Not much you can do about it. I would like mine to come on during the day without the headlights on but they won't let you do that either. I guess the only other option is waiting for after market ones which i wired by themselves and not into the system.

This old Grouch sez fog lights should be used for better vision in . . . hmmm, . . let's see . . FOG!
Let's leave the inconsiderate use of fog lights to drivers of BMW and SUV's.
When I want brighter illumination, I will install brighter high beams. I already have the xB fogs installed, and they DO work to help see through fog.

I am sure with a little handy re-wiring you could get it to work. I did this mod on my eclipse that had the same restrictions. I haven't had time to take a look at the xb wiring diagram (maybe someone who has could chime in). If I get time this weekend maybe I'll take a look and suggest how to go about doing it.

it doesnt sound too hard to do. I'm sure if you just tap into the highbeam wire you can get it to stay on.
I helped a friend install aftermarket headlights to use as his primary driving lights, he used his headlights a just a DRL.

It can prob be done. I had the same thing on my last car. The factory fogs went off when the hi beams came one. I just rewired them to come on with the parking ligts instead. I've not done this on my xB yet, I just aint had the time. But it is completly doable.

I wish i just had the oem fogs. Im too cheap to drop 210 plus dollars on them. Im hoping they come down in price soon.

The price wont drop for quite some time due to the fac they were just released. if you dont like the OEM price you could always try aftermarket

Quick Q about the fog lights:

All the fog light electrical wirings are already laid out for you under the hood on all stock xB 08's right?

(The manager at the local Scion service department is trying to finagle his way into forcing me to pay an EXTRA 1.5 hours of labor (@ $95/hr) for electrical layout. That's on top of the Scion agreed pure pricing labor of .75 hours. But I'm looking at the install instructions right now and it says, after connecting fog lights, to simply plug them into existing electrical connectors that should already be on the xB '08. So I KNOW THEY ALREADY HAVE TO BE THERE.) Sorry I'd answer this question myself but my car is in the shop right now.

I just read the instruction myself. Everything is prewired. If he or his tech can't figure that out, they got problems. If it takes them an extra 1.5 hours to install them, thats their fault and they should eat it, not try and make you pay. Don't pay it!

Default fog lights

look to see if when you turn on the high beems do the low beems stay on ?
in mn you can only have 4 lights on at one time so if low and high turn on the fog lights must turn off so theres only 4 lights on .

Everything is pre-wired. It took me less than 3 minutes to remove the tape and connect the bulbs and switch.

I got them to waive the fabricated labor fees thanks to your reassuring reply. Got them installed and even though they appear to point a little high, I love em.
