Default TC production CUT

If you're waiting... it might take a little bit longer.

To meet demand on new `05 Camrys, Toyota cut TC production to meet engine demands for Camry production.

Just heard it from my dealer in SoCal.

That's great for the value of my car! Mini-coopers had huge back log, and now look; they have the best resale value of any car out there.

And oh yeah...If you really want a Tc, GOOD LUCK! Sucks to be you. I'll sell mine for $25,000 if someone's that desperate.

I say nay too. The tC and it's motor are built in Japan. The Camry and its motor are built in Kentucky. No need to cut tC production to supply the Camry with more motors.

She'll never give you a straight answer, her old posts show that she got REALLY worked up to buy one before she saw one in person, and then she didn't like the wheels or the length of the front end. Something apparently snapped after that.

As far as the production cut, I'll believe it when Toyota says it. Anyone know for sure that they build tCs on the same assembly lines as Camrys?

my thoughts exactly.. but it'll still be better than a civic for the price, the look, the features...

Unless they've found some way to pump out several million tCs in the next few months, they'll never even come close to being as common as a Civic.

Let me put it this way: even after the tC's production run ends in a few years, there will be many fewer tCs on the road than Corvettes, and how many Corvettes do you see on a daily basis?

The tC is assembled in Japan, the Camry is assembled in Kentucky. So the answer you seek is no, they are not.

Well then, I think we have our answer.

But I have to wonder, was the dealer that dumb to believe the production-cut story, or did the dealer think his customers would be dumb enough to fall for it?

From the pressroom.
Located in Georgetown, TMMK commenced operations in 1988 and currently employs approximately 7,200 team members. The plant produces a total of 500,000 units annually of the Toyota Camry, America's best-selling car, the Camry Solara and the Avalon.
I dont think the TC by selling 4200 a month or around 50,000 this first year at current clip, probably will be around 30-40k, will make much of an impact in production. They already figured they were going to sell around 30k, so I am sure they made provisions to have extra engines for the demand.
