View Full Version : My xB thus far...
Just installed my Tein S-Tech springs and snapped off a couple pictures before it started pouring. I'm pretty much done with the outside. All I need are some wheels. Haven't heard anything from Dave (macncheese) regarding his Revolution wheels...so if for some reason I don't get his, I'm going to get some nice 15 or 16" dished rims. Other than that, maybe a different grill and definately an exhaust tip to fill out the bumper hole (either Borla exhaust or just a tip similar to the Borla tip).

TheScionicMan 10-15-2004, 11:00 PM Looks good. Like the candy tails, May I suggest smoking the sidemarker lights to get rid of the white spot...

That is something I am contemplating. They really don't stick out like that when you look at the car in person. I may give it a shot. I was thinking about doing the same to the rear bumper lights, but now that we've candied the tail lights the red reflectors don't look so out of place.
I'm also hoping the springs settle a little more. I purchased them because they were one of the few brands out there offering a completely level stance. So far the car seems to be a bit lower in the rear. I've never had to deal with the settling issue before as I am use to running coilovers (usually have no "settling time"). Curious if anyone else with the s-tech springs had this sort of issue at the beginning.
scionspecialistvegas 10-16-2004, 02:07 AM Alan, looks good, keep up the good work, Bill
Placebo 10-16-2004, 02:40 AM really nice :D
underESTIMATED 10-16-2004, 12:17 PM What kind of tail lights are those, did you just paint them?

Stock tail lights candied using Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red found at HobbyTownUSA. To hopefully keep the paint from fading, we used an automotive clearcoat (Duplicolor from PepBoys) instead of the Testors clearcoat. The automotive stuff holds up well to UV...I'm not sure if the Testors does the same.
Thanks for the compliments guys! :)
xbox83 10-19-2004, 07:28 PM hows the ride was thinking of either getting the spring or the basics from tein but was concerned about ride quality
nice looking so far! did you smoke out your front headlights? or what did you do? or is that just the pictuer of the car reflecting the sky's clouds? hehe

Ride is great. Much improved over stock. Nice and firm yet smooth over bumps. I hear the basics are great. Those were my 1st choice but I couldn't see myself spending $800 on suspension for this car.
Headlights were baked and portions of the lense were painted satin black. There is a whole topic written up in Drag Coefficient. ;)

LowProMofo 10-21-2004, 12:40 PM Looking good man! What grille you going with? I was thinking of the Grillecraft myself.
TheDanger 10-21-2004, 12:45 PM love the headlights! Wish I had to balls to take them apart and do it!

I'm thinking of having a local body shop do some fiberglass work to eliminate the emblem hole. I love the look of the stock grill for some reason, and I think it would look cool if the bars went all the way across without an emblem. :)
TheDanger...if you are ever down in Tampa we can help you out (we rent a house and have no problem using the oven for automotive stuff). Start to finish it took us about 2 hours to complete the job. Just buy the paint and a 6-pack of beer. ;)

Yeah I like it too. Mine is just like yours. I'll prolly stick a bB emblem in there for now until I get the mesh Grillcraft. This looks good IMO:

yeah my G_Lines are stiff, but I like it that way, plus I'm used to it.
ahurdl01 10-26-2004, 10:40 PM how do you remove the stock lower grills, the black plastic ones?
tcm_xB 10-29-2004, 08:25 PM Looks clean! I even like how the hubs look :!: How'd you pull that off? Thanks!
black_xb 10-29-2004, 09:55 PM where can i get the grille craft grills at.... That ios exactly what i'm looking for any help would be appreciated... Thanks

LMAO...I was thinking the same thing the other day. "How the funk does my car look pretty decent with these hubcaps?" I'd like to say it was all in my head...but it was purely accidental. I think spraying the caps charcoal made all the difference though. :)
fluxmr2spyder...the springs feel great. Much improved over stock.
