Default 2008 tc Ipod scanning

We have a 2008 tc with the ipod connection. My ipod has over 300 artists on it, makes scanning through them very difficult going one at a time...anyone know a way to go through them faster? Holding the button just keeps it on the same artist. I would appriciate any help

The ONLY help I can offer after 2 years with the Ipod deck....make good play lists.

That is one of the two big disappointments for me with the Ipod deck. I, too, have a ton of songs/artists on my Ipod and hate when I get the itching for a certain song or artist and have to sit there and tap or spin the controller to get to it.

Other beef I have is the fact that the headunit does not show genre on its interface. I ended up making smart playlists to help me with that one. I went and redid all the genre's on itunes to what I thought it belonged in. Not what Gracenotes or whatever it is thinks it should be. It's cracks me up how goofy it is. Rage Against the Machine listed as Punk, Pop, and Rock on different albums.

So..your basically..you either make some smart playlists or regular playlists for each letter of the alphabet. Use the alphabet listings to put those artists beganing with those letters into. Aerosmith = A, Bun B = B, Counting Crows = C...etc.

Again..this way you might have to go in and clean up the artist names too. I went and renamed all the songs that Gracenote had put multiple artists on. I changed it to the main artist I thought of when I heard the song. A good example of this is "The Re-Up" which is a colaborative CD with Eminem, D12 members, 50 cent..etc. It lists the artist as Eminem featuring Stat Quo...when in reality the main artist on the track is Stat Quo with an appearance by Eminem. So I nuked the secondary artist on all tracks to make it easier to search them. This way narrows down the artist lists substantially.

I second that. Just make playlists and you should be good. Found that out when I copied about 9GB of mashups from a friend's computer and synched it to the iPod.......

Beastie Boys vs. Chemical Brothers
Beastie Boys vs. Metallica
Beastie Boys vs. Jay-z....

...except x90. Just put itunes on random and find some good tracks and add them to a playlist.

And crabbyman, that's a lot of dedication. I simply do not have the patience!

for my ipod i just renamed everything . .

artist: A - Z
Album: Artist (Album)

so lets say i wanted to listen to "Let's get it started" by Black eyed peas

B > Black Eyed Peas (Elephunk > Let's get it started

it made 60 pages of artists (i have an avic d3) cut down to a more organzed 26 (one for each letter)

if u still want to scroll faster, turn the right **** counter/clockwise (assuming u have the regular radio, not the premium). i have that same problem, PITA but i live w/ it... until i get a d3 or similar.

if you TURN the **** more then a few clicks you'll go how ever many artists as you turn thru clicks.
It will allow you to skim thru a good 20 to 50 artists at a time depending on how you turn the ****.

it is a pain on the 08s. big disappointment. you can change settings. say you would rather control the ipod on the ipod instead of the deck you can do that. thats one way around the difficulty.

to control to ipod directly, on the upgraded radio you power the radio off (by pushing the PWR button, not turning the car off) then press and hold the menu button and just scroll over to ipod. i'm not sure how to do it on the other radio, but maybe this will help

I just got my 2008 scion tc in super white. woohoo. Anyway i got the premium radio upgarde so I dont know if this option is avaialbe for the standard radio. But the hidden menu in da radio has the option to control the ipod instead of thru the radio. I'd rather use that. I like to control everything directly from the ipod so its nice to have that option. You cant change the songs from the radio or steering wheels controls though with Ipod Control.

Right now i'm tryign to figure out how da hec to download the "skins" to the radio. I have the files but I guess i am not burning them correctly to the cd.

It's pretty weird. Burn the files as the .dpa file or whatever onto the CD. Then get into your car, turn it on, but shut the system off. Throw the CD in, and then it will start the download process. I tried several times with the system on and it just won't read the CD =P.

I have my "skin" set on the koi fish... I made some of my own but they come out kind of crappy compared to the ones you can download.

Whoah, dpa? you've got your initials way off lol its either .lka or .lkd. The instructions on the website say to burn the .lka. And i have followed all the instructions on how to insert it to the radio. But i still get disc error. Am i putting too many .lka's in there? is it one at a time?

are you burning the .lka files one at a time? or a big group? maybe the radio doesnt notice more than 1 at a time.

i think you can only burn 1 .lka at once. each lka can hold 1 background vid, 1 movie, and 2 pics, so you have a tiny bit o' variety there.

just follow the instructions
it does work, i have a custom background
but the only weird thing, and it is bothering me now
now i can't seem to upload a different one
i wanted to change the background, so i burned a new cd
the radio actually downloads everything, but nothing shows up
still the same background it downloaded the very first time

but it does work though, the first time at least

ok, thats it, i'm super annoyed, tired of going back and forth to my car to test this thing out. This is what I am doing. I download the packages from that pioneer site instead of downloading one by one. So obviously after i download the whole package, i have to extract them. Ok so when i extract the BGV/VIS's i get an lka file and two lkd files. Am i SUPPOSED TO extract them or leave the file as VIS_g2
Same goes for the BGP. I extract them and I get one lka and about 8 lkd's. The lka seems to be all the lkds in one file. That dont work either. HELP PLEASE.

Anyway after extracting them i copy the 3 files to a cd. Go to my radio, car on radio off, Hold Menu and multiselector button so download insert dis comes up. I put the disc in. couple seconds later, disc error, eject. WHAT DA HEC AM I DOING WRONG! AHHHHH THANKS IN ADVANCE
