I went wheel shopping today, I found the R1 Racing GTR-6 in silver, and I think I found the rim I want. They come in 18x7.5, 4x100, +40. I can't believe that they are 2-piece rims for such a great price.
Has anyone had any experience with these rims, or anything like em? I need some feedback before I make a final decision.

The R1 GTR-6's

Another pic of the R1's, (not as bright)

http://www.wheelsnext.com/prod_imgs/img-172-large.jpg

I am also looking at the 5 Zigen Copse 18's, but I like the R1's better.

The 5ZR Copse's

(they come in 4x100 bolt pattern)

Please give me some feedback.
Thanks,

You may be right, I am only going by what the fitment computer said at the Rim shop. The R1 website isnt very informative, and I can't find a better description anywhere else...

don't get them, that model sucks(j/k) i'm using the now on my car and love them. for price and quality, they're worth it. i think they are one of the better cheaper priced wheels. i never like to skimp on car parts/accessories, but i can't justify wheels that cost around $2-3k when the car is about $16k. doesn't make sense to me.

R1 is a nice looking rim company..
BUT keep in mind.. its jsut a knock off..
5zigen copse are real deal..

view it like this.. u can get a OLD NAVY SWEATER for 30 bucks..
or get a FAKE ___ nautica one(retailing for 69.99) for like 30 bucks..
same price(more or less depending where u go).. but ones a faker.. and
ones real.. i dont care how REAL they look..
its just not original.. if u can live with fake rims then by all means..
i dont care how good the brand is..
its the same thing.

ANCHOR BLUE MEN'S COLOGNE VERSUS KOOLWATER 4 MEN(fake)..
its your pick.. i've seen R1's for 200 bucks per rim.. NO HOOKUP... NO
BARGAINING... just asking.. 200 bucks a rim.. not bad..
shop around and u'll get it cheaper.. if u need more info i'll tell u..
200bucks was 18" rims.. any fake one they make..
the fake gtn.. fake gtp... ummm which ever.. the price was 800 a set(no tires)

but yea.. 5zigen is a pretty good brand.. the company's products aren't
half bad and they market their products TOTALLY affordable for people
liek us.. FN01R-C's are dirt cheap aswell.. like 800 for a set of 18's or so.. i think..
bronze.. black.. silver(nice silver color, its a prizm cut with a finished lip). white and more! goodluck

a few websites have 18" gt-n's volkracing.. REAL deal.. or GTP's for like 1700 or so
for a set of rims.. they're not as expensive as u think.. u figure u save up the money u spend on imitation rims... sell your grill or whatever u spend ur money on.. like don't buy it just yet.. and maybe save up a lil more and u'll have rims no one has!
BRAND NEW 18" volks gtn, gt7 or gtp are like around a lil over 2000 depending on which tires u wanna run.. if u get thank NANGJKOOK crap u might even be right around 2100 or so tops.. i remember i was shopping around a while back.. before i got my xB..

u can find used gt series rims.. off civics/integras for like 1400~1500 a set with
decent tires.. its all possible.. just gotta shop RECYCLER.COM

Agreed 100% But with that being said, i would still like to save on costs and wouldnt mind rolling in replicas. Want JDM? Of course I do, but I think there is room in this market for both the 5-Zigen and Volk Racing from the knock off brands

Downside to getting the knockoff wheels (besides poorer construction quality and apperance compared the the real wheels): they only come in doo doo Honda offsets!

All R1 wheels are ONE PIECE designs. They may look like two piece wheels from afar, but when you see them in person, they are just one piece, trying to achieve the two piece look.

Nilo--If your good friend owns the whole company, I doubt you would talk badly about anything that pops out of the R1 factory. We don't need any more blind backing of companies--there is plenty of that crap going on already.

Put it this way...if R1 is such a great company--why don't they get off of their asses and start coming up with their own wheel designs instead of copying other companies?

You get what you pay for.

PSquared

But how can the R1's be knockoffs of the Copse rims when the R1's are 6 spoke and the Copse are 5?

In any case, there will always be purists, and they abound in every hobby/fetish/whatever... I can feel it. Far as I'm concerned 50cent can get a dick sandwich when placed next to someone like Pharoahe Monch, and Nelly and Juvenile are just jokes. Truth is tho, it's all about what you like.

If you're not trying to have your box surrounded by trophies at shows, then what's it matter? Not at all, right? Look at your wallet, then look at what you like in that price range. Be more worried about getting the right offset for your truck and making sure it looks the way you want it to. Definitely pay attention to quality, but if you're not a purist, then it shouldn't matter whether R1 invented those rims, or just liked em' enough to put their own spin (pun intended) on them.

imo-get what you like, that's all that matters, knock offs copies, original design, all these wheels are quality in the sense that they should not fail and cause an accident. all wheels imported to the usa is either jasso or tuv approved, so they all do meet some quality standards.

it doesn't make send for me to spend $2000-3000 on a car that goes for $15k. i would have rather pruchased a car (and leave it stock) for the same $18k total(like a matrix xr)

imo - all wheels are somewhat of a knock off from some previous design. look at all the mesh style wheels out there and stars.

to me, the 5 zigen corpse(which i do like, but hate to use on our scions because it's a 5spoke with 4 lug holes for our car) look like a copy of some of the 5 spoke work wheels, so to me they are also a knock off/copy.

bottom line to me, if you like the design, get it as you're the only one who has to live with them.

i got the gtr6's becasue they cost half the price of the gt-p's and look good. (i use gt-p's on my other car) the 4 lug holes also look more even with the 6 spokes of the wheel. but that just my opinion and 2 cents.

Who said the R1 "GTP"s are copies of the 5zigen Copse? I sure didn't.

The R1 wheels that he posted are copies of the Volk Racing GTP.

All R1 makes are ripoff designs of other companies. They do not have a single original wheel design.

So the only way to have nice wheels is if you want your car to be entered in car shows and win a lot of trophys??? You know what's funny--the people with the nicest wheels that i've ran into on the street--hate the whole "show ___" concept altogether.

I'm sorry--some of us mod our cars for ourselfs--not so judges can carry clipboards and run circles around them. All of us don't need shows to make ourselves feel better about our rides.

And you mention "be sure to get the right offset for your truck". That is really funny--because the only way to order the "right" offsets for our "trucks" is to go with a company that will actually CUSTOM make rims to order. Last time I checked, R1 didn't do that...nor do Tenzo, etc...all they make in 4x100 is +40 and above, definately the wrong offset for our "trucks".

I still don't see how R1 put their own spin on them...oh you must mean they melted a two piece rim design of the original Volk GT series and made it a one piece CAST wheel, instead of the original FORGED version, and slapped on a R1 center cap right?

I just hate seeing posts about how people get wrong offset wheels because they didn't do the right research to begin with...and I hate seeing people get screwed over that way. Just remember...do it ONCE, do it RIGHT. There is no sense in fixing problems you can just avoid altogether.

My question about the "knockoffs" was directed toward HaHaJoey. My baggage for not quoting him to begin with.

I feel ya about getting ____ done right the first time. I'm in the process of shopping myself and am seeing that unless I go custon I won't get the offset I want, which sucks because I don't wanna hafta void my warranty by switching out bolts so I can put spacers on the rims I DO like. Hell, I don't even know how much custom jobs go for, or how long they'll take to get made.

What I do know, and this is not intended to disrespect anyone who is a car enthusiast, is that I want to make my car look nice without spending an astronomical amount of money, nahmean? I won't be racing it, or showing it. I'm only looking to keep it clean, sleek looking, and comfortable to drive. I wanna enjoy sitting in my car, breakin' my neck to dope beats, and getting where I need to go.

If you have any ideas on how I can get some nice wheels with 20-30 offsets, I'd appreciate anything you can tell me. I'll tell you this tho. I won't spend 2000 on a set of rims and tires.

Peace

many rim companies THAT DON'T COST 2-3 grand will have offsets and sizes that fit your car. i remember SCIONVAN or someone throwing up 5zigen MK5 or Mk6 i forgot with a 30 or so offset. the price wasn't even over 1000 bucks i believe.

its not so much HOW MUCH U SPEND, its how u spend the little money u have.
not all of us here are rich. im sure not. look at my bank account. i dont even have triple digits.. my parents aren't gonna pay for turbo or rims or whatever i want
on my car. my own wallet will. u figure.. people put tv's all over.. well if they didn't
do that(like me) i can use whatever money i 'saved' from that and pretty much drop it towards rims.. or suspension..

5zigen makes affordable rims(VERY NICELY PRICED) with good enough quality
for people NOT to bash on them. ADR/RS Limited rims are known to crack or bend
from potholes to curbs. thats not cool at all..

tenzo, katana, and like excel rims only come in limited sizes like most people
stated.. its like 15x6.5, 16x7, 17x7, 18x7 all +44 offset. so it fits
all civics, integras, miatas, del sols, xb, xa, and like most of the 4 luggers.

but u see with comapnies like 5zigen.. NOTICE they offer even as cheap
as their rims costs, different offsets. look at FN01R-C. they make offsets
that perfectly fit a 240SX.. and then they make offsets that fit RSX, civics, etc.

some companies just wanna do as little as possible to sell a product, and some
companies don't. the thread starter actually did say.. "I CHECKED R1's website..
it had no details about the rims" its because theres nothing to talk about.
its gonna be like 16"~18" rim.. all by 7 maybe 7.5 in 18".. and like +44
offset. thats it. its polished or chromed on the lip to look more real than
tenzo and adr..which is good..

R1 is good if u want a good fake. but keep in mind. a good fake doesn't mean the quality is all there. theres a reason why rims costs more when u get into customizable
sizes, offsets, and widths. u get what u pay for.

i have never been in a car show my life, and i dont have any trohpies.. i would still
spend as much as i can afford on nicer rims. i dont know what YOU DO.

but i know what i do.. i fix up my car for myself. not for the world to judge

I don't remember seeing them at Sema, I don't know their product but I think they look cool and if you can get them for 200 that's cool too... I think who care as long as you like them you have to pay for them... besides by the time march comes around you might find a million different rims you like and can also afford but I think the R1 are good, mind you I've never laid my hands on them but if V thinks they are okay "I'm in"... they look great... just my 5 cents

Darrell USED to run R1 wheels, until he met some metal pipes on the freeway...and the rims were ruined.

It's no wonder why he switched to the set he's on now, which btw darrel, if you read this, look a million times hotter than before...they are pimp-tastic.

Hey i am running the R-1 GTR -10's in hyperblack on my thundercloud and i know there not Volks but the color is what i like about them the best. The color fit so well with the color of the car and its great. Also Volk doesnt make that color and the gunmetal ones are to dark for the polished lip. Plus R-1 makes great quality rims, the finish and overall layout are top notch. I know there not two piece rims and they do way a bit more but its all kool. And the price is great to. So if u like those rims i say get them. But if u want to see a pic of my car go to www.biglittefilms.com and theres a pic of my car from the speedtrial event i went to along with Steve of bbist.com . Yes i did race with those 18 inch rims . And there is another pic somewhere from the Pomona showoff that i also went to. So u can see that not only do i use them for show but for the track also.

Yea, screw those Volks...they don't make them in hyPeRbLaCk.

The colors are ALL wrong on them too...what were they thinking.

R1's all the way...I don't even know why people waste money on Volks in the first place, because you don't get any better than top notch overlays like R1.

Oh yea, and right from the website, Unique design, Unique look.

Do what you like. Buy what you like. Its your money, don't let anyone tell you what to do with it.

Yes, some wheel companies make better wheels.

Some companies make good enough wheels.

Again, look at your budget, and get the best wheel in there that fits it.

If you budgeted $1000 for wheels, and thats as much as you can spend for wheels and all your other stuff, then go for the R1s.

If you got $2000 to spend on wheels, then buy the Volks...wait...if you have $2000 to spend on wheels, why are you driving a Scion xB?

Who cares if the wheel is a knock-off? If you do, and you can afford the "original" wheel, then woo-hoo. If you like "originals" but can't afford it, go buy a bicycle, or get into some other hobby. If you are so into original things...everyone on this forum probably has a Scion...

If you can live with your decision of what you like, who cares what we all think. I just know some fan-boy is going to flame this. Oh well, he's entitled to that. Just as I'm entitled to thinking to myself, "fan-boy."

who gives a flying rat's ___ if there knock-offs of some other wheel? GEEZ! A few of the people on this board are obviously so materialistic. It makes me want to vomit! Who in the hell would buy and XB and seriously try to make a race car out of it? I bought mine cause it's practical and it looks awesome. I'm buying my wheels for the look, not to impress riceboy with how much money I wasted.
