View Full Version : Billet Grill, whistle
xbcamo 10-17-2004, 02:47 PM :D
Hey everyone, great forum! I'm a new member and new XB owner. I apoligize if this has been discussed before. Recently I installed the Billet Grill(top, middle and lower)to my XB. Now I'm getting a loud whistle at 35mph to 45mph. I think the whistle is comming from the top grill, but not 100% certain. Has anyone else had this happen? What did you do for it? Appreciate any info/advise.
Thanks
Munch 10-17-2004, 03:03 PM My billet grills used to do the same thing. It comes from all 3 grills. The wind goes through the grills and makes the sound. I tried everything to get rid of it , but no luck. I finally just took them off :( .

Oh for Pete's sake Will. You are such a Munch!
Old_Punk 10-18-2004, 08:33 PM No, you see, it's a special feature that scares away deer so you don't hit them. Normally you'd pay extra for that.

pileofmonkeycrap 10-26-2004, 10:24 PM I've been considering the 3 piece billet grills cause they'll look great on my TCM. But this whistling has me reconsidering bigtime.
Could you hear the noise with the windows up? How noticeable was it?
I see several different billet grills being sold...which one do you guys have?
Thanks.
superjeer 10-27-2004, 12:11 AM Munch's are the T Rex. I have the b-cools and they whistle like mad too. It's the nature of the beast. I'm taking mine off for winter, cause I don't need the rust AND I don't need the whistle making it sound even colder out than it is!
WagenMaster 10-27-2004, 12:26 AM Does the top grill have a piece of plastic behind it like the one provided with the RS1?

scion_driver 11-03-2004, 02:01 AM I have never had a problem with mine. I instaled the 3 piece billet about 7 months ago and never had a problem with it makeing any sound.
Max2k 11-03-2004, 03:03 AM Just slap some plastic behind it to stop the airflow.
Kool_B 11-03-2004, 03:30 AM This is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing I have had mine (3 pcs ) on for some time now and have never heard a whistle. Plus I have sold many of them and never had a complaint about them. 8)
