Default TRD Intake

My Scion dealership is telling me that the TRD COA is $539.00. Is that correct?

dont get it unless you really really want the TRD badge. it is the same as AEM, TRD just rebadged it and put a higher price. you can also probably get it cheaper online.

http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...2&parts_id=681

for 05-06

and

http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1334

for 07-08

ask if that is the price of the cold air intake INSTALLED or just the cold air intake period. but they sound like they are seriously ripping you off.

Well, I just called to see on the price because I'm only 20 and the warranty is big for me as I'm barely able to afford living plus car payments. I just dont know if the warranty is worth that much when i could get an Injen intake for what 250 or a little less and get one of my friends to install it since I have no mechanical abilities.

I couldnt believe when they told me that though.

trd cold air intake is not a warrantied part, it is considered an off-road only part
so if you are looking to maintain the warranty, this is not the part for you.

Alright, next dumb question. If I put an intake on my car, does it void the entire warranty or just any warranty engine wise?

nothing voids your warranty unless it is directly proven to be the cause of a problem with your car.

you put on a cold air intake, and your ac stops working, they are not at all related, and the dealership can't say that simpley because there is an aftermarket part there, that your warranty is void.

now, your warranty covers your car from manufacturer defects, a cold air intake really can't hurt anything with your engine, unless they suck up water and hydro lock the engine. that would be entirely your fault, and toyota/scion would say your SOL because that is a liability that comes with using a CAI.

same goes for stuff like header and exhaust, they are just pipes, they really can't hurt anything. they just lead gases around and away from the engine. unless they rub up against something and melt something.

research the magnusson moss act to learn how aftermarket parts effect your warranty.
